[Event] Operation make a STAFF MEMBER ROFL!

Hey folks,


I just came up with crazy idea about different event, not in-game related at all. It's ment to be only on forums and the goal is to offer fun to both, Staff members and community :sideways:

This event will be based on the feature of the private message system. It's going be simple, easy to do it... It will offer the opportunity to have your own title that you will choose by yourself :wink:

As the name implies, we the players, will private message 1 member of Staff choice with as witty/comical a message as you can.


Rules:

• Each player is only allowed to send 1 private message.
• Message will be no longer than 500 characters.
• Any inappropriate messages will be deleted.
• Any additional messages after the first will be deleted so make it good.
• Please refrain from using alternate accounts!!
• Event ends when the time limit is reached or the GM's/Mod’s mail box is full.
• When the event ends Staff members should update the event thread.
• You could run this event once a month with a different GM/ Mod each time.

At the end of the allowed time the GM/ Mod will go through the private messages and pick 25. From there the Mod/GM team will narrow it down to 5. A poll will then be created for players to vote on which they think is the best/funniest.


The top 3 winners will be rewarded with a custom Title of their choice.

(For those that don't know the rank is the title that is under your name on the left of your posts. )


Example:

The GM/ Mod selected to be the Guinea pig is……(insert name here)!!!

The Event starts now and will run for the next XX hours!!

We have changed, and we will continue to change, its just we would rather heap somebody with reports and issues, then read hundred of PMs that could be spam, open up a thread for this xD

We would rather read messages that we could help players with, not read spam that won't help anyone. We have in-game events for a reason, and we also have forum games happening like that Last Post wins comp, Kevster's Halloween Comp etc etc.

 

Forum events would be a nice thing though. ;D

 

Damn u Fynie, why can't u get it that forums are not only for in-game issues/ questions and random spam!? Forums are more than that! Forums are for communication and fun too, u know? When someone login ang feel like ghosting the forums only coz he/she is @ work and can't play any games. This is the place where he/ she will come to visit to chill..

But, unfortunatly u can't see the world the way I do. U keep on thinking inside the box and about urself, ur mailbox how much it's spammed and other crap like that... Are u really afraid of being spammed about an event once in ur entire GM carreer?!? Do the maths dude, it's gonna be once per month and we got like 10+ Staff members. So ur turn will be only once... Of course it's so convenient for u not to get urself tired too much and do something new and creative...

I wonder where the heck is ur creativity here on forums as Staff members? Wat have u done here on forums to keep people active and interested to read the forums? huh?


U freaking piss me off nao, coz I try to make something nice here for the community but u are full of negativity my friend. Why do I got the feeling that I waste my time everytime I try to think of something different that wouold make Gamez better?

Hey, I never said i hated the idea...how about u make a thread and ask people to there stuff there instead of making people PM 1 person.

Only reason why I say this is becuase over 4500 people read these forums each day, we only have 750 mail slots and that includes the messages we send. Our mail boxes wont be able to fit all those PM's meaning that:
a) Some people wont get to participate
b) Players who need help cant contact us if the mail is full

Make a thread and then we can judge it from there, so then everyone can participate. And if you do make a post, everyone will be able to see what others have said, so its not so secret.

And my answer to this, I have thought up events that people would enjoy to play in-game, they are just being reviewed by admin and are awaiting to be approved. (Bottom 3 events on awaiting approval are mine: http://forum.gameznetwork.com/showthread.php?t=38786). and I have also ask admin if I could give out special items for events... So yes, I am trying to make things fun for other players so they can enjoy being on here...and I will continue to do this stuff.

PS. This has been the first time I have commented on one of your ideas xD. And I think we all have a right to express our opinion... just need to settle down and think through things more before you start yelling at someone for expressing there opinion.

umm okay 750 is MORE than enough, you think EVERY single one of those 4500 people will send you a message? i dont think so. I know i wont send a message.... thats one less on the list, and im sure only the ACTIVE people on forums will actually give a damn.. and send a message. You also need to consider the time limit of the event, not everyone is free all the time, so most people wont even know the event is going on. But lets say the mailbox becomes full, so what? those that didnt make it can try again next time... and think about their timing and be faster, it actually makes it a challenge to get into those 750 free slots.
@OP +1 to the idea, wanna see those top 5 jokez!!

 

Sounds like a nice idea, but might I suggest having the chosen staff member make an alt account, and announce the alt account for the community, so that we don't flood his gm account with useless mail that needs to be reserved for issues.

Also, maybe a new thread with a poll so the community can choose which staff member should be chosen for the event? Make sure to include everyone.

Edit: Of course we can't force volunteers to participate, so if a staff member chooses not to play along, we can always pick second choice.
