I was thinking recently, is it possible for a person to hold absolute freedom, and I mean absolute freedom, to do as you please, however you please.

Freedom without any boundaries could be seen as a very dreadful gift. It would mean no sense of restriction in any way and therefore society would be chaotic. But if we are to set restrictions to our own actions in order to maintain a sense of 'order', then are we absolute free? The moment you have forbid yourself of your own action to have a place in the mainstream thoughts of modern society, you can no longer be truly free. That's my belief.

    As Einstein himself once said:
"The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant."

Is a mind truly free when his/her thoughts are rational thinking? When that person holds doubt or fear of their action, are they truly free? Could it be seen that the fact you have fear and doubts is still a sense of freedom but within the mind but not in physical reality?

So my question is, can a person be capable of being truly free without the disturbance of society, his own emotional and rational thinking?

If you ask me, you're only ever truly free in your mind. When you actions no longer restrict your thoughts. But outside of your mind you'll never be free as long as the rules of society applies, but without rules what would be considered freedom? If you got no rules to define freedom then what is it? So if you got free from the rules of society will you be truly free? No cause there's nothing to define what that freedom is, but if the rules of society applies and you're free in your mind. Then you are truly free since no one can apply the rules of society to your mind.

Hmm I need to take some time to look at this, I dislike Wiki, too formal.

    Hehehe :p

Pretty much, the mind is yours to do as you please, but this world is not your own.

    It is isn't it?

Some may say it could be possible to be truly free, but this world will not accept you. It would be like a physical form of your mind.

As I told you on MSN, humans with emotions can never be free, with love there will always be hate, things humans can never live without.

The problem there is that a human without emotions wouldn't really care about freedom at all since well no emotions. Lol.

I suppose as long as you're human, you can never attain absolute freedom.

But what about in death? Will you become free then?

"Embrace death and achieve freedom" Mmh, if you've had a close to death experience or whatever then you'd probably understand what I meant... Lol

But yeah... I guess you could say it's one kind of freedom... By embracing death as it is and the fact that you will die you'll be able to remove the shackles of fear since you already know you could drop dead any second either way and live life to the fullest every second... So in one sense it is a kind of freedom...

Who knows, the understanding of death is only to our knowledge of what we define it to be. The death that we know could even be something completely different, but until something unusual happens, it is known as death.

This also brings up the repeated question:

    Should freedom have a boundary?

No greater freedom than that found in death.

Accidents have that in common with drugs, alcohol, and really bad sex.
