Sorry to bother you guys; however, i absolutly have no bloody idea about PC/Computer/Laptop stuff.

Since I am getting a new laptop I want to ask if this one is good for me to get or not.

If anyone can provide better ones pleases do.

The best helper will receive 1,000running scrolls as a little present from me.

Here it is the laptop spec.

Processor- i7 intel core 2.0GHz dual quad. So that means 8 i suppose.

RAM: 8GB can be upgraded(should i or should i not)

Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 6870

Hard Drive: flash back for instant start up-i dont know what the hell this means please help me out here... how does it save files then.. this is soo confusing....

the price is 1,200 CND right now. Is this a good price??

    Thank you

do not worry about flashback that is a new feature that allows hard drives to be more easy to recover files from a crash.

Wow only 1,200 canadian?!!? OMG thats insane

-Ram more than you should need, whether running on windows or anything. 4 is great, 6 even better, 8 is ample.

-Video card... clearly owns. Pretty recently released too! 5870 was the best until this baby.

-Flash drive: I believe this mean SSD. This is used in the macbook airs, which makes it have a substantially better load-rate and etc... these are litterally the way of the future for laptops. Even if your laptop has shitty everything the flash drive will make life 100x better than before

    -yeah intel core i7 is fastest processor out on the market right now. And 8 is insane O_O;

So all in all I'd say this is probably more than ample to cover any gaming needs, or anything else you would EVER need to do xD

But, I would have to caution you:
The battery life on it will not be more than 3 hours at best. This is being VERY optimistic... core i7 consumes so much power, even when the laptop isn't being used. If you are planning to use it to takes it to lectures for college or if you are planning to take it to meetings for buisness.... I'd definately suggest looking at getting a second alternative.

What I mean by that is get this one and then get another one... there is no way that that one would be able to keep up with the demands of a fast-paced-lifestyle on the go and being a mobile game platform.

-> That is even taking into account the battery slits that can add 9 cells I think to the battery life... all those processors and that video card consume huge amounts ot power!

-> The screen size to fit in all those parts I am guessing is ~ 16.4 +... which is a massive clunker to carry around. I personally love my 15 inch macbook pro and I find it mildly clunky to carry around to lectures :<! (Though I just got the macbook air and am loving it).

-> Heat sinks and heat dispursion is an issue, make sure to research into if this laptop has really good methods of dealing with heat. If not then the laptop will damage not only itself, but it isn't unheard of for people to suffer third-degree burns from laptops!

So unless you are planning to stay cable-bound then I would suggest you look into either a more mild alternative or I would suggest you look into possibly getting a second laptop for note taking/on the go work (such as macbook air).

Macbooks are actually at the peak of battery life management and I can tell you honestly, my friends mbp which uses i7 just chews that battery apart... it is depressing!

Thats about all the advice I can honestly give o_o

    Tl; dr version!:

-It sounds like a great deal for those parts! $1,200 canadian?! AWESOME!

-Make sure to check heat sinks and if it has proper ventilation.

-Make sure that its keyboard is a good layout

-Ensure that the screen is how you want it (eg... does it crack easily, is it too glossy, does it pick up every light in the room).

-Check battery options, such as battery slits I think they are called, as well as battery switchers.

-Make sure you have upgrade options avaliable to you.

-Make sure you know what you plan to do with the laptop.
    *More mobile uses
*More stationed uses where power is accessable

    ----
Overall this laptop looks like it could handle anything you threw at it in todays market. It may not have multiple video cards on cross-fire... but honestly this thing is at the apex of gaming.

I'd say that its more the guts inside and if its well designed rather than the company that merely assembled it. o_o bad laptop that is poorly designed = will fail from anyone.

But good laptop that is well designed will be great from anyone :3

like at 1:22 in that video you can see the big deep copper things, those are heat sinks. They are very importaint to make sure everything stays functioning :d

In terms of fans they'd have to answer that. Also it'll be something you will need to experiance first-hand to get a real grasp of it... I have hope that they wouldn't sell a laptop with that much kick to it with no heat dispursion... but I've seen people buy third-degree burn pans all the time sadly .___________. and it ISN'T uncommon for a hospital to get someone to come in saying "it was on my lap and I didn't notice!". Pretty sad actually T_T.

But in your case the bigger issue of it all is the heat dispursion to make sure that the machine itself doesnt suffer damage.

I'd definately say then you are on the right track to get a beast hahah, having a macbook for lectures/another laptop for gaming is what I do... although its more like 2 large gaming laptops and 2 macbooks (mbp and mba).

Could you explain what you need the laptop for? Music mixing, Video editing, Gaming, Web browsing,3D productions.

Depending on what you want it for, I'll tell you. Unless you're just uber rich, then get it. 1,200 CND is a good price for that. But where are you getting it from? There's been a lot of fruad reports all over the news since the cyber monday sales. Be careful.

Information on flash storage for you :3

    http://www.apple.com/ca/macbookair/design.html

"MacBook Air continues its legacy of firsts with something entirely new for any Mac: flash storage. Standard. In fact, the new MacBook Air is designed completely around flash storage. But in a totally different way. Typically, flash storage is housed in a package that’s the same size as a conventional hard drive. Yet the flash chips themselves occupy a very small portion of that housing. Getting rid of the hard drive enclosure and using only the parts that matter — the actual flash chips — frees up about 90 percent more space. And just like that, there’s room for other important things, like a bigger battery. Now you have a notebook that weighs practically nothing and runs for hours on a single charge. That’s mobility mastered."

Thats generalized... but if you look up detailed analysis of if it is great then you'll see that flash storage is actually awesomeeeeeeeeee
