    Well I also got bored of using anime in my sigs so these two sigs I posted are the only ones I've made with two boys.
    Hmm, let me tell you what I think: The smaller a sig is, the better. A nice signature size like 400x180px (180px is the max height size for sig so I won't say more:p) makes it easier for you to have a better result and that's why if the sig's width is huge and the height is okay, you won't be able to achieve this flow we are talking about.
    Also, these 500x200px sizes people asked (right back when this was the max sig size) are a pain in the ass to make. You can't do anything at all.
    So, apart from the sig size, if you work in Photoshop, i'm sure you're gonna get used to it soon and the results are gonna be good:} When I first learnt about photoshop I was just messing around with it and learnt new things every day. Also, tutorials in sites like DeviantArt would be helpful too^^
    Oh and finally, textures always help. Just find some cool ones and put them in Soft Light in photoshop and ta-da.
