Account Security

The security of your account is something that all players should take seriously.

What do I need to know?

• Do not share you account with anyone. Spreading account information increases the risk of theft.
• Never store e-mails or files on your computer that contain your password or account information.
• Be wary of writing your account information down, as this may allow others to read and possibly exploit.
• Be wary of shared computers, such as Cyber Cafes, as there are no assurances that this PC is not infected by a Trojan or other account information gathering program.
• If you are ever contacted via e-mail or in-game by someone claiming to he is GM on Gameznetwork requesting your password, do not give it to them. (Admins and GMs will never ask you for your password).

What can I do?

• Beware of sites posted in chat claiming to offer free items. These sites (phishing sites) will ask for account information, but are used to steal account information.
• Never post your account name on the forums, except in the ban appeals section.
• Don't make a character with the same name as your account.
• Never make your forum name the same as your account name.
• Never post your e-mail address on the forums.
• Make sure that your password is difficult to guess. It is usually recommended that you use both letters and numbers; try to use a password without any significance to yourself and change it periodically. (Avoid using names of pets, telephone numbers, etc. since they can be easily guessed.)

What can I do?

It is vital that you keep your Windows based operating system up-to-date. This includes the latest Service Pack, which currently stands at Service Pack 2 for Windows XP and Service Pack 1 is released for Vista, and all security updates released separately through Windows Update. Many potential exploits and holes have been fixed to protect your from many of the dangerous programs out there, such as Trojans and Spyware, etc.

It is simple to update: all you need to do is visit the Microsoft site and check if you are currently running the latest security updates. We recommend that you do this at regular intervals.​

ironic that the ban appeal section requires u to post ur account name huh. already had an argument with zee over your so very contradictory rules

 

i will talk with Lautaro and tell him to make the Ban appeal system, Viewable by Staff members.

 

already suggested long ago but bella ignored me

ban appeals dont need to be public since people cant reply to them and it doesnt really concern them in any way

 

it should be changed soon.

I am not sure if this is the right thread to post my concern. however I don't know where to post this, I am having problems using social gold, it say we need to review my acct for something, when i clicked on "contact us" it doesn't show anything...please help me thank you and more power...^^

i would modify the "never post your account name on the forums" to say except for the ban appeals section which will soon be viewable by staff members only. coz it is one of the requirements for ban appeal

also possibly add to not pick the same account name as character name coz that makes it easier since the only thing people need to guess is the pass now and not the account name too

the same applies to using the same account name as forum name
