I'm really new to Aion, and as far as I can tell ABG sets are the best.

I'm gonna go for a templar, so I asked around and i found that ABG plate is what I want(aiming for tank).

Now I know what I want, but can someone simply list all the items needed for the set(including accessories) and the best mace+shield/double handed weapon out there?

Once I know what I'm dealing with, I'll look into manastones as well(it seems that just like on MU online, manastones are an important aspect of PvP)

    Thanks.

    Welcome to Aion :]

In this game the ABG Sets are the best. If you can't obtain them (Since they cost $100) EGT/EAT Sets are a decent substitute until further progress.

Playing templar requires a lot of skill. Once you master templar you will realize that you need to switch to at least two or three sets during a single raid, in sequence of purpose. You would need a magic resist set, an offense set, a defense set, etc.

Playing it usually depends on your style. Since you are aiming to be a tank, I suggest you obtain two sets, a magic resist one and a parry/block one, in order to tank both magic type and melee type classes, respectfully.

A mace and shield is usually used for blocking and magic attacks (since mace is a good magic attack weapon, and templars have Magic Crush) and the shield for extra defense, block and parry (and more manastone slots!)

The greatsword (two-hand weapon) also deals a lot of damage, just if ever you get tired of tanking without getting to kill. Just switch to your greatsword and you'll be able to kill just fine.

Manastone combos are totally up to your configuration, and no one can dictate that to you but yourself.

As long as your eye is always open in the game, you'll know which manastones you'll need. There's always the manastone remover if you make a combo mistake. Never fret. :]

Welcome and I hope you enjoy your stay!

abg plate attack set (manastones :attack+5) abg crit accs.
abg chain set vs sorcs mage class (manastones: mr+14)
warhammer and shield , also great sword all abg.
if you cant afford that, just looks for lower scale of it, like EGT,EAT and etc.

    Money isn't exactly the issue.
So you're saying that to buy the perfect set, I'd need $100?
And if a tank is hard to use, what other class could I rely on, which is relatively more... durable?

Some people have twisted their way into the market to obtain their ABG, that you can do as well.

Well you know Aion, it's a Korean game...and all Korean games are difficult.

Templar is basically a tank, but it has several other skills that you can also put to good use (since stigma systems are not implemented in Siel).

Another alternative for the Templar is the more supportive Cleric.

Temp is very durable and versatile in the fact it can be very defensive with block/mr sets with mace and shield to the fairly offensive sets using attack/crit manastones and greatsword. Just its a pain trying to get 2/3 sets for the one class.

Anuhart is a starting point... EGT/Masta is good for pvp and ABG is best for pvp.

In the store, the abg full set cost $100... the accesories cost $50... and every weapon cost $20 (All abg)... after that you ned to enchant it and manastone it. weapons need to be godstoned and so on.... and yes, plate classes (gladiators and templars), require the use of more than 1 armor set, configured in different ways to be able to stand against all classes...

Every class has its pros and cons, depending on your play style you can last longer in everyone. But depend on your skill.
I suggest if you are new to the game, try the classes before paying money for armor...

And yes, Aion is not "easy" but also is not impossible, there are lots of stuff to learn, but if you like the game you will enjoy that.

Well, assuming you have the resources to obtain the sets needed, will my time as a templar be easy or a pain?

I would suggest u play the class first to get the feel of it (Fairly easy to get to lvl 55) if u decide that u like it then go for the abg gear if u dont mind paying/trading. But when i played temp i found it easy to play and stay alive but harder to get kills. I was pretty noob at it tho. As temp in grps dont bother attacking glads... go for the squishy that's where temps shine imo :)

It will be both. I've seen newbies clad in abg who don't know what they're doing and are getting eaten by eat/egt users.

This is a game where both skill + wealth (equipment-wise) determine how you fare amongst the others.

Don't pay for anything yet until you've found the class you've found that best suits your taste, as said earlier by dmaxcustom.

Well, the point is, how am I supposed to find the class I'm looking for if I have no decent gear for it? Unless there's a shop with decent PvP gear that doesn't require $$.

in full abg, a temp is more or less unstoppable against anything (except hacks, lol) and don't listen to ianjayroma, anuhart's a good starter set, but not useful at all in a pvp war

There actually is xD You get pvp gear using abyss points (obtained from pvping) and gold medals.

While trying to earn your decent pvp gear, there's substitute weapons/armour you can obtain called Tahabata Weapons or Anuhart armour.

You can get Anuhart armour and Tahabata weaps from killing a few elite mobs in Dark Poeta, located a few miles off the heart of Heiron, or you can buy them off the trade broker for 1b~10b each.

You'll need a group to take the elite mobs, however.
