Good & Bad ^^

Here is your philosophical question of the day

Do you think there can be good without the bad? What do you think life would be like if bad things didnt happen? Would it be too linear and boring? Would anything truly make you happy?

What does happiness really mean to you. Is it something that makes u feel good because u have something others dont? Something that makes u special and unique?

These are just a few helping questions, feel free to approach the issue in any way you like ^^

 

are you like ultra bored that u post so many questions? and polls lol?

 

On my opinion , life is life . Its made with bad and good things , we prefer good things , but ofc , if life was only good things , i think sometimes we would get bored.

You need to work hard to reach what u want , even on relationships or on work.

You always need to do boring stuff , to get good stuff.

Thats my opinion , Life is life. : )

What's the definition of good and bad in the first place? I believe there's no such thing as good or bad.

good and bad can be pretty subjective depending on what u value a masochist would find pain good, most other people wouldnt etc xD

 

There are 2 extremes for everything... I think the more ideal thing is to be in the middle of both extremes.

 

i think that would be pretty boring as long as u dont experience them urself u have good and bad things happening around u but...nothing special ever happens to u

 

nothing can be good without bad things. Imo, the "bad" things make the "good" exist and vice versa.. If one thing has disappeared, the other ofc will gone as well... The life without the bad is boring, and imo, none challenging... But the life without any good thing, well, i dont want to mention it here because everybody can imagine it well... Lets make an association, the life with only good thing is in heaven, and the life with only bad thing is in hell, we all know those are not really existed, but only in our imagination...
With me, happiness does mean alot... But i think the truly happiness is what i've done for the others... I remember the day i wanted to cook the dinner in my mother's bday myself.. ( i'm very suck at it -.-!).. It was messed up, and smelt awful.. But she ate it well, and even said it was the most delicous meal ever.. I saw her happy face at the moment and i felt happy too, and a bit proud lol...That was my unforgotten memo...
And finally, each one of us is unique and special, nothing but urself that made it....

question for u: if everything is so perfect in heaven (if it existed) wouldnt that bore u out of ur mind? no challenge, no risks, nothing would feel special, nothing to look forward to ^^

such a convo killer nobody asked for anything universal. just the concept itself is what this discussion is about. most of us would agree that some things r good and some r bad right? ^^

 

ofc its boring... .. Like living with an empty soul. Because after out death, all of our memos are gone as well, our souls hav been released and become empty...

just meant if u remembered all the things that happened during ur life, then went to that "perfect" heaven, wouldnt u get sick of it being so perfect if u had to stay there and well...nothing would feel special anymore lol

anyways lets not drag too much religion into it some people might get offended

 

My answer's going to seem contradictory, but its a paradox. You need contrast for something to exist. What is "good" if there is no bad? You can't state something is hot when there is no such thing as cold. So in that sense, there would be no "good" if there was no bad. Think about it this way, if there was no poverty, there would be no people helping them.

But in a completely different sense, you can still be a "good person" if there was no bad. Even if everyone was equivalent to you, you're still fitting in the terms of "good" for us. You just wouldn't know it. I guess the way to state it is, there can be no extreme without the other, but the spectrum in between still exists. Really "good" people emerge in times of crisis, not when everything is normal. That sort of answers number 2. And yes, you can be happy, and stuff wouldn't be linear and boring. You don't have to kill people to feel good or excite yourself. Which leads into your next question.

Happiness is not external contrary to public belief. I've often tried to figure it out, cause to be honest, happiness has always been something out of reach for me these past few years. Happiness to me is just inner tranquility. To be able to look into the mirror and be proud of who you are, to just be able to look into the eyes looking back at you and know that you are glad at the way you're life has turned out. It doesn't make you special or unique, in my opinion, it just means you can live with yourself without any regrets. Lots of things are out of your control in life, but one of the few things you can change is how you FEEL about everything. But happiness does not correlate to goodness in any way, shape, or form. Unfortunately for our human race ;(.

 

We'd be.. let's say, greedy, if nothing bad happened lol. We'd want everything and wouldn't think of the consequences of it, we'd do anything we want, and even though we'd be happy, it would be boooriiing, cause we'd be asking for more and more.

And.. we'd never realise what love is if we didn't feel the pain and sadness of it in the end ;p And in most cases we wouldn't realise how lucky we were to have something or someone in the first place, even though we lost them.

about ur first part, i think u can hot things burn u, normal things dont, u dont need cold there xD

true, u dont need to kill people to feel good bout urself but could u feel good bout being safe without knowing what suffering is? ^^

i guess ur 3rd point has something to it, a rather interesting view ^^

agree with the 2nd part u need to know what it feels like not to be loved to be able to enjoy being in love. just sux being in the first category >.> lol

 

actually, tbh i cant imagine it lol ... Because theres no really "perfect" thing existed.. But thinking about it, it depends... Right now i'm still young, and the young one hate the boring life ...But someday, when i get exhausted, i'll go to that "perfect" heaven, and take a rest till my life ends...C:

actually i find the concept of heaven intriguing how long do u rest there exactly? eternity seems kinda long lol, id get bored out of my mind coz i would have tried everything by then. also, doesnt it get kinda crowded? xD unless theres a lack of good people lol

 

Naaah the point is, we'd be happy at first, but then, after doing everything for everyone and wanting everything again, we'd be bored and keep asking for more, and it wouldn't keep us happy. Something like, when a kid gets his first shirt from his grandparents for christmas when he's young, he's happy to death, but after 10 years of getting the same, he's fed up ;p
