Bored and I felt like asking a simple question. Feel free to state why.

I could do a long statement but I'll just use short wise words.

Religion requires philosophy but philosophy doesn't require religion.

Religion because philosophy requires understanding, religion requires blind faith. Blind faith does not ask why or when, so therefore religion came first

Dont know to be honest, both are dependant of one another. I suppose it requires an state of mind that it should have poped out in sometime of our evolution in the time of the caves. I dont have an answer i dont have enough info to infer one... so I leave it here.

Religion is a concept that requires the resolution of an idea... philosophy. Cave man, and before that didnt had the concept of religion to identify the fears they had towards the elemets... they were just "powers" that ruled the enviroment... religion requires a function to control society, which is given by someone that preach the religion... that requires a state of mind with concepts... philosophy.

I would go for philosophy because its kinda simple to understand that people firstly try to explain anything they see with reasonable facts, proofs.

For expample, when people first realized their existance in this world, they were shocked and tried to find for a reason of their existance. When they couldn't explain it - due to lack of knowledge at that time - they came up with the idea of 'next life' or 'after life' because it was a self-defence of our mind in order to protect itself from goin crazy.

Just imagine that one day, you wake up and you realize that whenever you look into a mirror it's you and noone else. Yesterday you would think it was someone else just not you, but today your mind can realize that reality. So, after a while you will realize that when you go outside, you might stop existing, something terrible with happen to you and you will die. But dun forget that you are still 'dumb' enough to not know many many things because you still learn the world around you. You just find out how you look like and what you mean amoung/ for the others.

What I try to say is that religion came after philosophy. Yes, it might look like that religion was first but people moved to religion after put alot of thought into why happens this and that.

Philosophy is when you ask yourself why is something happening and you try to figure it out. The action is what counts, so philosophy was first.

The two aren't exactly related in my opinion. Philosophy is belief in how the world works. What is and isn't actuality, and every person has their own philosophy. Religion is belief in deities or spirits, and their interaction with the world. Both are independent of the other.

Which came first depends on belief in religion, however. The religious, for the most part, believe religion always existed in human history. Religion can be included in your philosophy, so if you are religious, they come at the same time. If not religious then you would tend to believe that people didn't invent religion until after they had cognizance enough to be aware of the world in more of an it's just there sense, so then philosophy came first.

Philosophy, because everything has a deeper meaning to something, you may even treat Philosophy as a religion and worship it. Religion has its history, Philosophy has its theory <3

Religion was definitely first. Philosophy would have some scientific thoughts into it. Which means random beliefs/religion would be the origin of philosophy. :p

Because neanderthals are incapable of being scientists.

I would say philosophy is a root to religion. So philosophy.

Philosophy led into religion. After the invention of agriculture, people needed something to control the elements, so they turned to religion. Philosophy was crude then. So was science. As philosophy and science became more refined, first with the Greeks, then with the Renaissance, then with the Scientific Revolution and Enlightenment, religion remained rooted in the same prehistoric thought process. I.e., heliocentric view of the universe was actually refuted by the Bible, as was the theory of evolution and the Big Bang, etc. So, philosophy led to religion, but it outgrew religion. Religion is a byproduct of early philosophy in my mind.

Of course. To be a scientist, all you have to do is be someone who tries to find out how things work. Someone had to start somewhere. Some long dead genius neanderthal out there invented the wheel. Made a fire. Started building homes rather than hiding in caves. It's rediculous to think that religion came before scientists. They didn't blame all that happened on a higher being before they discovered that they had no clue how whatever worked. When all else fails, blame magic from there.

I believe religion was the first -and most succeessful- way of mind control. Like seriously, how many people -even today- are afraid to do something just because of the religion.
