{Guide} On how to be an epic sorcerer

Well since I now have a lot of free time on my hands for the next few days imm start making guides. \o/ So why not start with a sorc one since I played it so long? This will basically help you with starting up a sorc for pve and pvp. Manastone builds and pvp combos depending on certain builds you use. THE ABLAZED'S SORCERER GUIDE

Sorcerer Basic knowledge
Magic Boost Cap: 2700
Every 1200 boost is a 100% damage increase
Masters of control and good at maintaining damage
Best weapon IS tome. Average rate is 40 m acc more and 40 boost less.
40 m acc = 4 stones 40 boost = 2
Abbreviations(important to know)
CC- Crowd Control. ie. Sleep, Curse of Roots, Winter binding and root
Tree- Curse of Roots
Delay- Delay blast, big magma eruption, lava tempest
BOQ- Boon of Quickness
HD - Heavy Damage. ie. Inferno, Glacial Shard, Flame Spray, 2k DP
CoW- Curse of weakness
SoF- Supplication of focus
Instants- freezing wind, summon rock, frost,(with high cast speed wind cutdown, flame fusion are applicable)
MR- Magic Resist
MA- Magic Accuracy
MB- Magic Boost
HP- Health points

Manastone Builds

PvE: When pvping you usually want whatever you're fighting to die fast right? Stack m boost till about 2500 and use various buffs and food to get you to the cap. It's not a bad idea to stack mr after this to prevent sleep and stuns and other status effetcs form landing on you.

PvP- with good sorcs that use them
The anti magic build (Sexyspell) Full mr Many mages use this build to counter sms, sorcs, clerics and the various effect from other classes.

Pros

• With high enough mr you'll be able to resist a ton of stuns, sleeps, snares, and pesky clerics.

Cons

• You sacrifice hp
• Sorcs can use SoF to hit you
• If another player is using mr you won't be able to hit them without your m acc cds.

The tanker build (Jellybean) Getting a lot of hp in to the mix and adding some m boost. This was a popular build back in 1.5 and 1.9. When people were still in non pvp gear it made surviving very easy.

Pros

• You'll be able to take a lot of damage and survive zergs a little easier
• With the extra m boost you will be able to take down players more easily

Cons

• You're sacrificing m acc and mr which are both critical in pvp, espcially when soloing.
• Since it's becoming more impossible to outrun geared players the extra hp is only denying the inevtiable

The anti mr build (Darntae) Stacking all m acc and a little of what you want on the side. Very useful in solo, saving m acc cds for when it's really needed.

Pros

• For players attempting to stack some mr you don't have to worry about resists very often.
• Still able to stack a little mr or hp on the side to give you an advantage over full mr users.

Cons

• You sacrifice hp
• You're more vulnerable to snares and other magic classes attacks
• Lower boost makes it a little more diffcult to fend off plate classes

Now that we've covered the basic manastone builds let's move on to the differnt combos when fighting in pvp. It's understandable that many "pro" sorcs use differnt strategies, but after playing for over a year at sorc I believe these to be the best. The main points you need to realize when fighting with sorc is control.

Sorcerer v Gladiator

The most numerous class and biggest pain in the ass to fight. If done right this class can be very easily defeated.

Keypoints

Control: Learn to keep distance
Damage: Don't be afraid to throw heavy spells on them

Combo: An easy one to use when fighting them is the basic, delay, silence, heavy damage.

Beginners

1. Control them: Sleep or Tree.
2. Vaizels Wisdom
3. Lava tempest or Big magma eruption
4. Soul Freeze
5. HD
6. If they're alive throw instants on them.

Advanced

1. Start with frost to slow them or you can even cc then use ice chain
2. Soul freeze them while they're still slowed, this prevents strethen wings and heals.
3. Root or winterbind
4. Big magma eruption or lava tempest
5. Glacial shard or another HD
6. If alive throw instants on them
7. If they manage to survive or you messed up be sure to keep them slowed and at a distance and slowly take them down. ie. Ice chain, flame bolt, wind cutdown, ice chain and continue

Sorcerer v Templar

A lot of hp and if you're not careful they can close the distance pretty fast. However, very similar style to dealing with Glads.

Keypoints

Control: Learn to keep distance
Damage: Don't be afraid to throw heavy spells on them
Advantages: Do not fight them with iron skin up. Instead be sure to cc through it. ie: Sleep, Tree, Sleep

Combo: An easy one to use when fighting them is the basic, delay, silence, heavy damage.

Beginners

1. Control them: Sleep or Tree.
2. Vaizels Wisdom and SoF in case they use aether armor
3. Lava tempest or Big magma eruption
4. Soul Freeze
5. HD
6. If they're alive throw instants on them.

Advanced

1. Start with frost to slow them or you can even cc then use ice chain
2. Soul freeze them while they're still slowed, this prevents Prayer of freedom and heals.
3. Root or winterbind
4. Big magma eruption or lava tempest
5. Glacial shard or another HD
6. If alive throw instants on them
7. If they manage to survive or you messed up be sure to keep them slowed and at a distance and slowly take them down. ie. Ice chain, flame bolt, wind cutdown, ice chain and continue

Sorcerer v Ranger

Our sworn enemies when competing in range. This class gives the most trouble for sorcs and if not dealt with right will end in you having your wings folded. They do require fast reaction times to face off against.

Keypoints

Control: Be sure you're able to keep them under your control and not theirs.
Swiftness: Don't let them 1 2 3 4 you. Be sure your able to counter anything they throw at you. Pot their silences and if they use bestial fury maintain a 25m range.

Combo: Stuns are your friends in this. This way they can't attack back. Mr sets come in handy here.

Beginners

1. Sleep or tree them
2. Vaizels Wisdom
3. Lava tempest or big magma eruption
4. Soul Freeze
5. Arcane thunderbolt or illusion storm
6. Aether hold
7. HD then magic fist

Advanced**

1. Vaizels Wisdom
2. Illusion
3. Ice chain, or arcane bolt (illusion storm if others aren't available or if you're feeling brave)
4. Soul freeze
5. Lava tempest or big magma eruption
6. HD or aether hold

These 2 steps or interchangeable
If you're fighting a legit ranger who can pot silence fast enough and break stuns as well then make it a dps race.

1. Illusion or boon of iron clad
2. Charge their asses and spam instants

Sorcerer v Assassin

Do not doubt this class. The legit ones will kill you in a blink of an eye. Stay on your toes and pot any silences that come your way.

Keypoints

Resists: Watch for their multitude of resist skills such as FE, AT an SD. Sensory boost is a problem too if you're not running an m acc build.
Control: Don't let them get close where they fang strike chain you or cook up some heavy dps.

Combo: Be nimble and lay it on them like a plate class. Be sure to fake them out on resists and throw skills such as frost into aethertwists and erosion into FEs.

Beginner

1. Illusion storm or arcane bolt
2. Soul freeze (this works as a remove shock blocker as well as stops resist skills and rune bursting skills.)
3. Frost or ice chain (be sure to kite them)
4. Delay
5. HD or instants

Advanced

1. Illusion(stop those ambushes and D&S!!)
2. CC
3. Soul Freeze
4. Arcane bolt or ice chain, preferably the latter
5. Delay
6. HD

Sorcerer v Sorcerer

My my my, this is ALL about the first cc. Elyos sorcs watch out for those asmos and their I win button(BOQ). /spit at asmo sorcs

Keypoints

Control: This is all the fight is about, outcontorlling the outher.

Combos

Beginner

1. CoW
2. Ele Ward
3. Soul Freeze
4. Arcane bolt or ice chain
5. Frost
6. Delay
7. HD

Advanced

1. Sleep or tee
2. Soul freeze
3. Illusion storm or arcane bolt
4. Delay
5. Ice chain (for stun lock)
6. HD

Sorcerer's with Elemental Ward

1. Magic boost to counter the 300 m res gain opponent gets and add some boost
2. Follow adv combo to 5
3. Instead of hding use frost and add CoW.
4. CoW will require them using a pot to remove and thus hit them for 36% of their hp.
5. If they're still alive be sure to use instants or hd, whichever is better for the situation.

Sorcerer v Spiritmaster

10% possible to ever win. Recomended to get a masta set and use full mr. My set gives me over 2600 mr with ele ward and makes it impossible for sms to hit me. You MUST control them. Asmo sorcs spam BOQ like no tomrrow on them.

Keypoints

Total control: As it says, any downtime will result in a loss.
Stuns: Keep them unable to attack you for as long as possible

Beginner

1. Vaizels Wisdom
2. Blind Leap(forward)
3. CoW
4. Sleep or tree
5. Delay
6. Silence
7. Arcane Bolt or illusion Storm
8. HD

Advanced

1. Blind leap(to them)
2. Illusion storm (wait for them to remove shock)
3. Tree or sleep
4. Delay
5. Aether hold

With an mr set they're pretty much at your mercy.

Sorcerer v Chanter

The easiest class you will ever fight if you watch for their cds. Just be mindful of when to and when not to remove shock. Don't remove if they're not attacking you. Can easily be a ploy.

Keypoints

Keen: Watch for their dmg reduction cds and you'll be golden.
Distance: Don't wanna get stunlocked now.

Combo

Beginner

1. Tree or sleep
2. Vaizels wisdom and SoF(many use mr sets now)
3. Delay
4. Illusion
5. Soul freeze
6. Arcane Bolt
7. HD

Advanced

1. Tree or sleep
2. Vaizels Wisdom and SoF
3. CoW (this will MURDER them if they don't pot it)
4. Delay
5. Illusion
6. Soul Freeze
7. Arcane bolt or aethers hold
8. HD

Sorcerer v Cleric

They will make you wish you had an m acc set if you're not careful. A lot of them will kite you with their dots on energies.

Keypoints

Control: Be sure to stop them from kiting you, after all you're the kiting class right?
DPS: Gotta break through their heals.

Combos

Beginner

1. Tree or sleep
2. SoF(please use this after sleep or tree because they will kite it )
3. Delay
4. CoW
5. Arcane bolt or illusion storm
6. Soul Freeze
7. HD and instants

Advanced

1. Tree or Sleep
2. SoF
3. Delay
4. CoW
5. Soul Freeze
6. Arcane Bolt or illusion storm
7. HD and some instansts are nice

*ALL STUNS AND SILENCES ARE INTERCHANGEABLE. MOSTLY DEPENDS ON OPPOSING PLAYERS REACTIONS AND PING.

2. EGT/EAT
3. Masta
4. Crafted
5. Anuhart
6. Best
7. Udas

My reccomendations

• ABG set with full m acc
• Masta Set with full magic resist
• Masta tome + abg tome with full mr and 10% silence godstone

I was very tempted to do a guide exactly like that. But decided not to troll the forums XD

Something like: Set keys 1 2 3 4 as supp of focus, glacial shard, flame spray and 2k dp
Use boon of quickness, magic boost and wintry armor
Smash your head on keys 1-4

1,2,3,4 = buffs
numpad = attack skills

smash head on numpad and u can still kite with w,a,s,d

 

as easy as it is to roll your keys
its nice to know how to pvp without the need to constantly use BoQ, Sup of focus etc
then wait 5 minutes for cooldown before going to kill another elyos

 

That, plus I hate Sorcs more than anything in Aion [**** glacial shards]

But, you gotta give credits where it's due, right?
