Why is RMT illegal?

    I'm not really targeting gamez/crystalaion here, but overall, why is RMT usually illegal to commit in MMO's?

    As I [and some others see it], it's a legal transaction: you provide the money, we provide the goods. Such is the basic law of trading. Even gamez has its own RMT system, only named or sugarcoated differently: Donation.

    Both involve real money, and agreements between the buyer and the seller.

    Both has their own risks and advantages.




    Just askin'.

    P.S: Leaving out the "can't support server without money" theory out. You know who Carl is.

    its illegal because for me the server will not have donation or will not profit since RMTed items are much more cheap than buying it on the server.

    hmm... well for Gamezaion.. ppl who sell ABG,im sure they got by donating.. so i think even RMT are legal,donating keep working...
    beside how ppl can get abg stuff?..

    That's the point.
    Some of us can't afford to buy the stuff on the donation list as they are originally priced.

    For instance, let's say A's friend has a full ABG set with accessory, A has the money but there's no way he/she can donate due to various reasons (and no, 20$ a piece isn't THAT reasonable either.)

    Since A and A's friend are close, and they trust each other, it would be wise to do an RMT in this case imo. Fast, convenient, easy.

    Well one of the reasons is because techincally you do NOT own your account. NCSoft or in this case Carl actually does. That and they want you to donate and stuff.

    Players who sells ABG for real money got their stuff either by trading/duping and trading and multiple account (voting).

    well i think even rmt are illegal i do believe many ppl do rmt..
    and i do believe,rules are made to broke :p

    Many factors you should consider with RMT. Trade security is one, in which case, scam is a high possiblity specially if the 2 persons never met irl. Scammed ppl dont QQ by themselves, they post on forums because they got scammed. And thats what server owners usually prevents from happening.
