Lol I refuse to believe the mentality that there's not "much you can do about it."

I believe there is, and in fact, the tiniest act could change one life forever, and to me, that IS something worth acting upon.

Zomg I know right? Before long children will start making their own alliances against authority and end up being shot down by their creators.

I mean, have you heard of the concept of the "tragedy of the commons?"

If everyone stood there and said that they couldn't make a difference, so they decided not to act, they essentially helped propagate the problem. Yet if they all decided to do one tiny thing, the end result could be a huge difference. That's why I dislike that mentality so much.

Even one raindrop raises the level of the ocean.

I didnt mean it as a sarcasm or anything... if you truly really believe that, go ahead and try all you can, want or like... you ll need good luck for that.

Sorry my mentality doesnt suit you. Had my fill of hope already.

Well we have to blame the media for contributing to the children's mindsets. Clearly all these telly shows, movies and games that display violence greatly contribute to the growing consciousness of children.

Had the parents been wiser, they wouldn't show their children such things until the appropriate age. I guess it's a matter of the "social fad"; what's new is hot, and what's old is not. Such things are very difficult however (we can't blame the parents alone on such matters, as the entire social community is at fault for this) hence solving it would be tedious...and will require meticulous plans.

Well I had my fair share of 'the streets' during my early years and I can point out one thing that is truly a problem, social environment. It's the environment of all these killings, attacks or whatever goes on, you start to become what you see around, it's extremely difficult to adapt yourself in a terrible environment to the point where you can't see no other way of surviving. You'll start to think that there isn't any other way for you to live besides the environment you are currently in.

Back in my early teen years, I was an extremely violent person and I had my fair share of shady business during the Post-Code War in East London 2002-3. It was an issue between E5, E8, and E9 where there was a mass amount of violences going on throughout. I manage to get myself out of this conflict after stuff began to get to real that people started coming to our Secondary school to continue the violence, every single day during those years there was always a set of police inside and outside the school. The school got closed down now because it was too involved in criminal activities and wasn't getting any more money to support the school. The only way I had to get out of it was to avoid going school (I literally had a 44% attendance rate, I just came like 2 or 3 times a month) and the social activities I use to do. Unfortunately it costed me my GCSE grades and it's still having a heavy impact on me at the moment since because of that, I'm having issues getting in a university.

I've been hearing the stories of people I use to know back then, they're not doing well at all unfortunately, met two of the guys I knew and man... They were high mad on drugs, it was pitiful. They all are still alive but quite a lot of them are behind bars at the moment.

I've started to change myself after I went into college - better yet, the environment of the college changed me actually. It was much further away from all the violence going on in my area. It was less violent and the Education system there was more stable. But even then I met a guy who was from one of the post codes that was against mine and we were in the same class, so we had continuous conflicts to the point where he was permanently excluded and put the blame on me, even though I kept my cool and never got violent towards him at all. I came this far out to college to actually learn shit, not to get involved in more bullshit than I already had before. I couldn't read or write for shit back then. Even a Few days later after he got excluded. I kept seeing a few people in black hoodies outside my class watching me, making these arm gestures like they got something planned, the teachers started getting worried of my safety, fortunately nothing happened. Since I changed environments, I've been a lot more friendlier, much, much less violent and aggressive to the point were people started calling 'Brother Jesus' because I always kept my cool at serious situations were it would be natural to lash out and get mad, I guess maybe it was cause I went through all that stuff at an early age.

But even though I've been doing all right now, that street stuff grown out of me, I still can't peacefully go back in certain areas because the environment hasn't changed and the people are still the same. I still watch my back even till this day. How can it change though? That I don't know honestly, I don't think it can now as it has become an unofficial sub-culture. You can suppress the violence, but it cannot be stopped. What an individual can do though, find the faintest opportunity there is around you take a leap of faith to find something better with your life. The moment you lose sight for the better, you have lost to the game.
