AU closed, probably won't see 2.0 for a while. :(

wow just wow. though i kind of saw this coming with all the major core devs leaving over the past few months.

but yeah, i doubt we'll see 2.0 on most privs for a while after its out on retail. i'm sure there will be a few servers who do it right away, but there are only 2 or 3 at most. everyone else will be using 1.9 moded with 2.0 files or just staying with 1.9.

chlora, whats your opinion on the au news?

I expect this long ago. And I was sure it would happen after Sarynth left.

No big surprise here, really sad about it though. =[

While some updates (quest fixes, a few bug fixes, etc.) will not be available which is sad, I think chlora already has most of 2.0 running. He just needs NAretail to get it on the 7th before he can fix up a few things. But yeah, lots of major stuff won't be fixed, but we do have a kind of custom dev team.

I think it's probably a good thing. A lot of bugs are being introduced because of the number of people making contributions and the lack of those people being managed.

It's not the end of the project per say, just the end of the Atracers involvement due to lack of interest in the project. I'm sure someone will pickup the torch.

I see good things to come.

those wind streams you see screenshots and videos of are client side. server owners dont do anything to make those work.

all the spawns the au team has done for 2.0 areas are wrong. they dont match up with any of the korean videos of those areas.

    basically i see this as:
    no armsfusion
    no pets
    no artifacts and artifact skills
    no packet support for 2.0
    no quests for 2.0 areas
no campaigns that come in 2.0
no retail npc spawns for 2.0 areas
slow skill updates for current skills and new 2.0 skills

Actually, I agree that stuff like seiges will not happen. But the map zones, skills, armsfusion, etc. probably could work. But yeah, stuff like retail seiges, retail dredigon, etc. simply will not happen now.

I hope you weren't expecting to have those things by the time NCSoft goes live with 2.0?

Maybe we should stop worrying about what we don't have that hasn't even been released yet and worry about improving and completing what we do have.

You shouldn't be so negative.

I can see your point but I have to disagree. It's true that several of the projects dev's run IA but I don't think it's time to abandon ship just yet.

It's a lot of work and they can't do it alone.

This is not true, quests are kind of easy, you need just very basic java knowledge to write quests.
Also normal quests are handled just with use of .xml

Why no spawns? Spawns are the easiest thing to fix on the server, but it takes a lot of time.

Won't really take that much time once 2.0 goes retail in English speaking countries and databases get updated.

A lot of current data is based off the test server which is subject to change before 2.0 goes live anyway. As usual I'm sure there are will be a ton of problems on NCSofts side which are going to need to be fixed.
