Just watched American History X.

And I must say that the points Danny Vinyards made somehow do reflect the mindset of a part of the people living here at that time, especially Caucasians or white people.

Me being an Asian individual living in California, I can't feel any significant threat or hate. California is like the state of Hispanics and Asians, there's hardly any white people near where I live.

Well, the question I want to ask - and this is aimed more at people who are white:
Have you ever felt that your privileges are being limited because of people who aren't of the same race as you are, and why?​

 

Not anything that really stands out, as far as privileges go in my personal experience

 

Affirmative action, let's face it, a less qualified minority (not Asian) has a better chance to get into a college than someone else. I do not necessarily feel this is a bad thing, it's sort of to equalize the wrongs America has committed and the stifling of minority growth throughout its history. When it comes to jobs though, I feel it is the opposite. There is a glass ceiling in corporate America to this day and age.

 

I live in California and I'm white o-o Er, half I should say. But no, I haven't really felt that ever, other than people telling me I can't jump/play athletics as well/or rap (Not that I try them anwyays though) :3 But I'm also part Japanese, so.. x.x

 

What about that prediction that by year so-and-so, the Caucasian popularity will be outnumbered by the now-minorities, making Caucasians a minority?

 

Meh, its not surprising, but it doesn't matter. The idea is to reverse the injustice that America committed in its past...and let's face it, America has wronged MOST minorities. The sad thing is, white supremacists and racism are still very prevalent in today's society. I was watching a news story on some dumb neo nazi who justified white supremacy by stating that there was such thing as "gay pride" and "Latino pride" then why not "white pride." Of course he neglected to mention his violent tactics.

I also had someone tell me they would "never ever date a black, asian, or brown person" in their life. I found that shallow and racist also, considering I'm like a tiny part Asian. It's sad to see people clinging to something so morally and ethically wrong nowadays x.x.

 

Right, as if Americans are truly "white" anyway.

There's no such thing as a 100% American.

Tbh I wish to be another race. My own makes me feel like trash sometimes. (Obama doesn't help either)

Lol, I'm pretty sure America only consisted of Indians until the British came over and conquered. (Don't blame my if my American History is rather horrid. I was never into American History)

As the melting pot gets bigger people will eventually blend but even then they will find some way to hate. I've never felt any reason to feel underprivileged although I'm not very tolerant of people who say certain things about America's native population. (Being that I am Italian/German/Native American although I'm pale as hell due to being anemic)

 

What tickles my Elmo most is the fact that Asian kids who were born here consider themselves "white" and pay little respect to the Asian race.

Funny, I had to right an essay about this today, or well, an essay assessing the validity of a Thomas Paine characterization of America's diversity and how it leads to unity ;o

 

We are all descendents of Adam and Eve you fools.

America consisted of numerous Native tribes and they got along with the settlers for the most part (some tribes were aggressive) until american found gold on native lands and proclaimed "Manifest destiny" that was their apparent right to invade their rightful lands. They killed them off by pitting one tribe against another through deceitful diplomacy, false treaties, and doing downright in humane things like giving them smallpox infected blankets. In the end America systematically killed most of the Indians by fighting them one tribe at a time in a rather un honorable fashion.
America was also responsible for killing all of Japan's native Samurai in the same manner.

 

I was born here, but I'm part Asian ;o.
