[Again] Religion and Atheism.

A story about atheists being violent in their measure to express their disbelief in religions hardly ever makes the cut on a prime-time talk show, because it really rarely happens.

Stories about proclaimed "good, religious" people committing grave sins, from paedophilic Popes to violent protests against other religions, might very well cover more than 70% of the news we see daily, however.

What's the deal? We atheists express our beliefs through peaceful means, yet we still receive the stink eye from society? How's that fair and just?​

People don't like when u express your beliefs by saying retarded stuff like "Our Ancestors were Monkeys".

Anyway , i never said it is a right thing to say that you're stuff like devils , antichrists , etc. Whoever says that is stupid. Oh and don't forget , i said I am Religionless. The point I'm getting across is that we try our best to conduct scientific researches to reach into the unknown void surrounding us.

And some religion people, especially Fundies, would love to do ANYTHING they can to give us, the working atheists, a bad rep.

Being Religionless is one thing and Being an Atheist or a Christian is another. I didn't say i don't believe what the bible says , i said i don't follow it. I know there is a god and stuff but i don't do what churches say. i find it ridiculous.

the people who get tired of it , become atheists and scientists who try to prove that religions are wrong. why do u think most of the scientists are atheists?

 

I agree with some of petromaniac's arguments, ghost has some points too. But I believe there is a higher power out of all of this. Why is it that human lived for thousands of years now? Is there a scientifical explanation for that? I bet it's too complicated. But I believe that we are here because of religion who kept us intact.

Just come to think of it, if we were'nt introduced to religion, would there be morality? Would I have killed my father and mother or every member of my family because I hated them for some reason?

Like the jellyfish demonstrated (in Ishmael), it is pure stupidity to ever consider that humans are the "end-all" of evolution. For the past 500 years, there has been continuous development in proving that humans are NOT important, i.e. heliocentric theory. Let's face it, there has also been a clear downward trend of human intelligence (average), and it's been postulated that the genius of people like Mozart will never be achieved again. I don't find it surprising to be honest.

As for the random alien argument, you do know that there have been planets found that could lead to the same life on Earth, and chances are super high that there is extraterrestrial life out there... but the chances are just extremely slim that there will be any contact (study light...).

I'm not an outspoken atheist, I could even consider myself a deist at times. But I do think Christianity is wrong, and I do think that the best tool to show that is the Bible itself.
