    I like movies that have several layers/psychological/REALLY nice action.


    If there's a good action AND smart movie, I'm off for one.

    idk why you would ever go into a movie like Van Helsing expecting that.

    I like those type of movies also, but I knew what Van Helsing was, and I enjoyed it. For a "mindless" action flick, it was pretty damn good.

    one of the best movies ever made in my opinion. The subtitles are a pain...but damn, like ghost said, this movie has so many layers. It is violent and depressing, but a powerful, haunting movie. I'd say it's in my top ten along with Shawshank Redemption, Godfather, etc.

    You have to know the difference between a 10-y-o who followed his dad around and watched whatever movie the old man was watching, and an 18-y-o who's striving for movies like Oldboy, Ikigami and Inception :/

    Inception is a mindless action film also. Intricate for sure, but deep? no. Watch pan's labryinth. If you liked Inception, try the Departed, it's also an intricate thriller that's extremely suspenseful. For deep movies, try memento and shutter island, to me those are psychological and deep also. Shawshank Redemption of course, but I'm sure you've seen that.
