Is it possible to gear up on this server without buying everything in the cash shop?

I jumped over to crystal with a few friends of mine from Atomix and have been playing a few hours daily the past week. Everything started off well; there didn't seem to be any major bugs and 2.5 was *beautiful*. We thought we'd be able to farm our gear and make progress just like on the other server's we'd joined - we picked up premium accounts to help us attain this goal.

Now that we've hit 55, the disparity between new characters and old characters just hit us. Mainly because it's borderline impossible to farm gear - you have to cash shop for it. I'm not talking about ABG, I'm talking about even basic gears like Anuhart/Taha.

Problems:
- We usually can't find groups to run DP with. There's 3 of us (Ranger/Cleric/Sorc). If we're lucky, we're able to find a glad/templar to tank bosses for us. In most cases we have to skip certain bosses because we don't have a debuffing class (SM) or our tank is undergeared. Most of the time, I end up having to tank. Most of the bosses which drop the most useful pieces are nearly impossible to kill as a result.

- We've tried virtually every instance in our short time here, and they just get progressively tougher. In Besh, most of the bosses don't even drop; a fully geared ranger tanked a few bosses for us the other day (thank you) but it took hours just to collect 2-3 pieces *total*. We didn't even get to SW because it took too long. Without help, we can't even get past the mobs in the entrance.

- We decided to collect and craft our own gears. The problem is it's not feasible to craft noble sky dragon/drenium etc on this server. The mats needed would take months to collect. We can only craft 1 heliotrope crystal a day. That's a *huge* limiting factor. Not to mention that collecting aether is a pain. Since we can't actually aethertap with the currently implemented captcha system, we're forced to buy aether on all of our alts on a daily basis to scrape by.

- We're currently mass collecting/morphing mats to craft pots which are in high demand. The problem is that this isn't Gamez. There isn't a high population present. We don't know who will buy them, what they will trade us for them, or even if we'll get anything of value in return. Basically we're wasting time hoping something will change.

- Even farming Elders is a chore. We decided to + our elders gear - in order to collect our enchant stones, we decided to farm a bunch of elders sets and decomp. That was a mistake. A fully geared asmo sorc continuously kept killing us every time we collected (3 on 1). He was fully geared. We didn't stand a chance.

- Even when the kind GMs hold events, it's pointless. The newer players get rolled. They are dominated by those who have ABG etc.

That's encompasses the primary problem with this server. There is a massive insurmountable disparity between new characters and old characters. The only way to close the gap is to donate, or to vote for months. The population is divided between those in full ABG (minority), and the noobs who are unable to farm gear and end up becoming frustrated and leave (majority). Just to illustrate my point, there are 4 level 55s on atm - 2 of them are me and my friend, 1 of them is farming his Elders gear - I haven't seen the 4th. I believe that's why crystal isn't as populated, because it's *impossible* to even gear up without donating or voting for months. It's not fun being a noob, thanks to the system currently implemented, you're forced to live with it - or leave.

You can't acquire platinum medals in fort raids (what's Aion w/o raids?), so you can't buy decent PvP gear. You can't farm SW/DP etc. because of the perennially low population and crappy gear all around. You can't PK because you have no gear. Since no one PKs, even lower level PvP gear isn't attainable - and people get bored and quit. Even collecting Kinah is a pain. I spent hours doing quests for 20 mil Kinah which I promptly spent getting a crafting skill to master status.

This server has a lot of potential, but what do you all expect us to do? Stick around and vote for a few months to enjoy it? Something needs to be done.

TL;DR: Go vote/donate.

I'm sorry if this disappoints you, but if no one's doing besh with you guys, your chances of getting geared up are pretty slim.



Of course you can trade with others, but bear in mind that anything you request for from another is x10 its original value (****ing greedy pigs.)

try to vote as much and as often as you can, every 12hours and try to start crafting, gather materials, trade them for aethers and magical aethers, craft scrolls, pots, foods, everything you can and trade it for atleast an anuhart set.. the go do besh and get a full besh set [ this may require one of you to reroll a SM idk i've never actually done besh entirely b4]

i am so sorry to hear this. i know crystal is dying and i'm not even sure if the admins are doing something at all...

 

Sileria that's why i am suggesting the removal/change of DP points system and tradable pve gear. For new players to be able to get geared decently pretty fast, like before 2.5.

New drops will be added (or that's what evilset pointed out several times) and more mobs will "work". At least that's what we hope for, we don't want new people to come and leave because they can't get geared. Also i am "that geared ranger" if you need any help with DP or BT ask me when i am online.

That doesn't mean it should be borderline impossible to farm SW/DP/<insert lower level instance here> gear as a stop gap while you vote. *No one* is going to stay on this server for months waiting for gear.

That's why Crystal's population is so low.

I vote twice a day, I'm premium, and am back at 1.5k VP again. At this rate it will still take months to collect my gear.

At this rate Crystal will fail. Talk to the people on the server, the lowbies specifically. They are all discouraged and almost none of them last longer than 2-3 days.

 

I hope so man. Crystal is a great server, but these problems are overwhelming. I never dreamed it would be this difficult to gear up.

 

Believe me, we are complaining day and night about these things. Hopefully something will change soon.

 

in Gamez, after they fcked up DP the most complete gear i could think of that's farmable is Dragonbound set. try LUT/UT.

The reason you can't farm dp is not all the items drop and taha is bugged a few things in besh are bugged as well. I almost am beggining to think taha/best/etc was bugged on purpose. Well mainly because all this shit worked before and people were actually doing dp (as far as what effects lumeil probally effects siel equally if we are talking about farming gear/pve)

 

Drop rates suck period. Ppl cant get geared and get facerolled in pvp i can see y crystal pop dropped so much. evilset said drops gna be implemented soon tbh i think thats been going on for too long now. Not to mention other servers that have donations as well also have drops. so i dont see a reason y anyone would stay

Oh god i feel so identificated with this thread, i mean i was once like that! thank god i found a good legion full of kind pals and they helped me alot, and still do (thx guys i loves yah =D) but not everyone has that luck. Its true is so hard to get gear here and add to that problem the bugged bosses on DP and BT which means that most of sets wont be complete, like in my case i have all Besh gladi set just missing greaves cuz the boss who drops it is bugged -.-!! plus SW is bugged too.... there are so many things we need to have fixed soon. In pvp ppl who has been playing a long time are geared up well with SW sets or ABG, how a newbie can fight fairly against that?? is just moral killing to be like that U_U...

 

Hopefully the instance and drop issues that we have gets revamped/fixed and new players will stick around for a little longer than 2-3 days like Sileria pointed out. I honestly don't know what the big deal is with making something work properly or the way it should. PPL have post tons of suggestions and tons of opinions and in the end not even a mere comment or feedback from the persons that can make it happen. If making money from donations is so important.. think.. and just think for a second..the more PPL that play the more you will get.. simple! ....But truly, make Crystal Aion what it is supposed to be.... a game that we can all enjoy and have fun playing it in the long run.. not what it is today..... a piece of crap! (take it constructively)
