Okay i tried both the item.pak attempts and they both give me the error Failed to Initialize

 

1. whats ur operating system (XP/Vista/7)
2. whats ur client version (US/Europe)

 

I got windows 7, NA client. I was playing it fine without the item.pak. Updated the item.pak cause i have a bunch of stuff i need to sell, and it doesnt launch now.

 

NA doesnt have much to do with it, check the games list, if it doesnt say (Europe) after the game then its US client

always make a backup of the old items.pak before u replace it
u can try put it in Data\Items instead of Data\USA\Items (one of the 2 possible locations in the past, when one gave the fail to initialize error, the other one worked)

if it works, post it here so we know how to help next time ^^

 

Yeh it didnt work .. my retail wont launch either, and i dont want to re-do the entire game. Been tryin to get this server to work for like 2 days in a row and it has made me pretty sad rofl. Thanks anyways ima jus stick to league of legends

 

u dont have to "redo" the entire game lol

1. right click -> repair
OR
2. get the original items.pak from someone to get the game to work again (its what, 2mb?)

I tried to repair it lol, ill grab the original item.pak from a friend of mine, see if it launches.

 

if its the only file u replaced to begin with, its the only one u need to return (repair also gives it back but u gotta reinstall ur gamez launcher over it)

btw the one in Data\Items is different from Data\USA\Items so make sure u replace both with their respective originals xD

lesson to learn for the future: make backups xD

note: if u didnt replace the one in Data\USA\Items after messing with it, then replacing the one in Data\Items wouldnt have worked even if it was the right one coz of the other place causing the error

 

I expected the item.pak to work lol, never had issues replacing it before. Ive ran into alot of problems getting this server to work =(. Ill give it a few more attempts

 

i have a win 7 64bit with the 2.5 items.pak and i can run it just fine

u can let ur friend log u for trading since it works for him (if u trust him enough), the game is playable without the items.pak, u can still accept items without it as well

btw u might wanna turn off UAC (user account control) in windows, its a real b!tch and causes quite a lot of errors with aion

note: i play gamez, not crystal but i dont think it makes a difference

 

Ima try to redo the item.pak once more ( with a backup lol ) i redid the repair and i can launch retail now. Ima give this one more shot

 

i really havent been around much these past few months, dont think the 2.1 items.pak still works though, u can try either way or really just play without one, its not all that important
