Guild Wars

i've heard of gw2 and waiting till it comes out but is just gw a good game? and is it worth to try?

 

It's a dead game, but it has some of the best GFX, and storyline from all the other games--and it's six years old.
If you're cool with not seeing too many people, and enjoy playing solo then GW is cool.

The pvp part of the game is what still keeps me around. <3

 

If you're bored enough and have nothing to do, guild wars is something fun to do, i played guild wars prior to aion and i liked it. I got bored of it though after i got all of the fancy stuff and had nobody to play with.

 

I used to play it as well, I think it's worth it, definitely entertaining, I haven't seen too much on GW2 but from what I have seen it looks like it might actually be able to bring some of the old population back. and I agree with deadly, the storyline of GW is amazing compared to most MMOs.

 

I like Rift.. The storyline is cool, the map invasion are awesome, and the exp you get from them are great.. Instances are fun.. Best customizable classes ever.. you get to all 8 souls and can make w/e combination you want.. Its something different if its what ur looking for.

bella, that rift looks fine, are classes ok there?

 

Rift is great if you're looking for something kinda like Aion, but with more customization. Less PvP, more story focused.
Not much of a grind either.

The classes are great. I went with cleric, and theres a ton of damage / healing "Souls" to choose from.

I was assuming you were looking into GW because it's FTP. Where Rift is P2P

Well FTP Guild Wars is def worth a try. It's better than most FTP games.

 

I've been playing Guild Wars since it first came out and it's one of the best MMO's of all time in my opinion. Storyline wise is outstanding and the PvP (prior Wiki) was great for the fact that it's all based on your own skills to make your own character build.

After wiki came out and pretty much everyone used the same kind of build during PvP gameplay, it became a little dull but it's still a great game.

I'm anxiously waiting for Guild Wars 2 to come out.

I have a mage and i have all 8 souls...

I have:

Role 1: Necromancer/Warlock/Chloromancer
Role 2: Pyromancer/Necromancer/Archon
Role 3: Stormcaller/dominator/Elemental

- Something try out, they have a trial you can do..its 7 days trial but max lvl you can get to is 15 so...

Guild Wars was my first MMORPG ever. For that time it has dead good graphics, and the storyline was... A M A Z I N G. It really is worth trying GW2.

 

Guild Wars doesn't have amazing graphics by today's standards but they do have beautiful areas, if you can understand the difference between the two then you should be able to admire the looks of the game just as much as any recent game imo, aside from a giggle here or there on how someone's face looks.

Other than that, the story is beyond all means fantastic, especially the Nightfall expansion, which you'll get if you buy the trilogy. The cinematic before and after most missions drives the story to you and you can really play it by yourself since you gain heroes (NPCs) of several different classes which you can add to your party (instead of adding players, if you choose to solo) and fully customize, including which skills they use.

As mentioned, Guild Wars also has good PvP even if the builds are a bit cookie-cutter now, as its extremely balanced. Even if you're just starting out, you'll have equal level gear as anyone else aside from modifications, it just might not look as pretty. Finally, with GW2 in the making, a lot of veterans and newcomers have recently joined the community so its a good time to start if you had never done so before.

Alternatively, if you're willing to pay (doesn't seem that you are but I'll mention this anyways), RIFT is absolutely fantastic as Bella mentioned. The story is amazing, the classes are fun to play and highly customizable as well as unique, which you could say the same for Guild Wars, but not many other mainstream MMOs at all. The graphics are astounding if you have a computer worthy of them, the zones, feel and sound is all immersive, with plenty of world events or minor invasions to keep you entertained. The PvP isn't bad at all, but Deadly will probably tell you that it isn't worked out very much, which would be true. That should change soon as they plan on adding a lot to it, but as of this current moment the major PvP content hasn't arrived yet. Other than that, it is in all aspects probably my favorite MMO I've played to date.
