Why do you like to read about depressing things? For instance the terrible things that happen to people, when they post them on this site why do you like to read them? Does it stir compassion inside you, and make you want to reach out to the person? Or is it something else?

If you aren't seeing the scars of this world, you'll most likely think it's filled with unicorns and rainbow.

I think that people like to watch depressing things, or hear about them, because subconsciously it makes them feel better about themselves, and where they are.

Well, to be honest there are times in me that I am insensitive and hard about what others are going through, when the moment that I have many things in my head and I am problematic as well. What I mean is, when a friend of mine is problematic of something and I am also problematic on something else, something really heavy, I don't even bother asking what the problem is. While I am a person who doesn't want to tell to anyone or to show to anyone that I have problems because I believe that I am not the only one who is going through on something. I tell everything to the 3 people I trust most; my husband, my mom and dad. But there are people who just feel like telling it all out, because that's how they make themselves feel better with whatever they are going through. And if that's the case I say and without any hypocrisy, it depends on my mood if I will go to a thread, read whatever is in there and reply IF there is something helpful that I can reply, or I just close the tab if there is something I can't say or I can't relate nor say something nice or not even read it because I don't feel like reading someone else's problem. Because as what I said, there are people who feels telling it all out, and you can find such people in this community. Those people found it comfortable to do so because no one knows them in real life. And there are people in this community too like me that sometimes, I just feel like helping - because I feel like it and there's nothing wrong with it, sometimes I can't help, sometimes I just don't feel like helping.

No see Unfavored I don't like reading about them, I don't bother. If someone starts to talk about their life trying to get pity I show them nothing. I tell them to get a life and be happy because they're alive and that is a once in a life time thing. Yeah they're life isn't the greatest but neither is so many other peoples and do they sulk around and share they're story with the world, no they don't. Unless it's some people who are trying to make it a better place and thus that's a valid excuse and I will hear that but anyone hell no. Yeah people call me a heartless bish but I just shrug my shoulders and keep pushing people. I swear I am not heartless... Well actually I am because I gave you my heart ^ ^

    Quick answer: It's human nature.

Something about feeling the surreal, seeing death yet it doesn't affect you. (Art major, you learn some weird shit)

Well.. It depends on what it's about, really.

Depressing things usually reach me easier, as my character is basically to reach out and offer my help. And we've all been depressed once, thus it kinda feels good being able to relate the feeling to someone else, by listening to their story.

If it's like by a news report, wherein something horrifying/depressing happens, it's curiousity and a sense of compassion, I'd guess. It really depends on what.
