    whats your opinion on what went wrong? was it the winds? or was it because the stage wasnt put / evaluated correctly?

    wth... the winds are brutal and plus not so well put up stage :(. that's just sad.

    Talk about a freak accident. Wow... With winds that high, they should of never put people that close to the stage, or cancelled the show due to weather... I guess this will be a future precaution for every band when performing outside.

    They didn't listen when a weather report had announced heavy winds coming in. 10 minutes later the winds destroyed the poorly built stage.

    I say both. If it was set up properly and safe, this will probably not happen. Besides, they can't ask the wind to stop to avoid it from happening, but by setting up the stage with complete safety or as what MzBella said, should have not let the audiences that close to the stage so no one died.

    State police said that the hospitalized people had suffered a range of injuries from minor to critical. They said search and rescue operations at the site were almost completed 35 minutes later the stage collapsed.

    Thousands of people were being evacuated from the fairgrounds grandstand to a nearby coliseum because of worsening weather when a wind gust brought down the stage rigging. It fell onto an area where some fans were seated.

    No one was performing at the time. The opening act had finished, and the crowd was waiting for Sugarland to take the stage.

    Exactly.

    There a was a summer festival here on Portugal and it was postponed when they saw that the stage wasn't as secure as they thought it was.
