Helping out (Not sure if it works)

Hi guys,

I'm seeing alot of issues posted by people regarding client crashes, updates, item pak, drop rate, etc. So I decided to write something to help. (With what happened to me and what I think). I'm not a computer expert so I'm not sure if it does work that way or this way. Again, I'm not sure if it works for you but i'm just trying to help and share what I know or think is right.

For client:
I've never done anything to my previous client version of 2.5.0.3 and all I did was update from NCsoft launcher and wala, it works for me. Connection was prefect and finished updating in like 5mins to 10mins. Then I clicked on GamezAion launcher for another update and wala again, it works. Got into game, happy about update. I saw fixed issues like monster appearing (previous NO!) but I havent really hunted anything so not sure about drop rate. Some quests seem to be fixed.

Working 2.5.0.3 updated to 2.6.0.1 and it works just fine. Nothing wrong at all. I didnt even delete anything from 2.5.0.3

Issues:
Client crash - I think the updating might have been corrupted or something, try deleting bin32 and bin64 (or replacing with 2.5.0.3 bins) then repair them with NCsoft launcher again. Reinstalling takes too long and troublesome. If my update doesnt have any problem, I dont think yours should have. I'm running on windowsXP though

Connection - Dont need to comment this too much, it probably will be your area of connection. I see people saying they got stuck while updating, etc. Have some patience, some of us might not have good net connection.

Server - Yes server is/was up since I havent log in for awhile now =P doing some work instead of gaming. You can play just fine if your client is working.

My final message to fellow gamers:
Do have some patience for the host to fix the game (drop rates, char stats, etc) since an update always presents us with issues that we cannot foresee. While you might be angry and pissed about the update, do keep in mind that we are being provided a free to play server for those didnt donate at all. (well, i did cause i think every private server host deserve some respect and contribution donation)

Be patience and wait for GMs to reply and help us fix the issues we encountered. Post a useful thread on what problem, how you encountered it and seek help instead of threads like "AION WORKING?!" or "HELP PLEASE!?"
State your issues on the thread headline and ask properly. For experienced gamers, please help solve them and also not to comment badly on others. I saw replies in other thread like "WTF GAMEZ!?" hello? isnt that alittle too rude?

I'm not boot-licking any GMs or even the host, but i do know some of you might think "OMG! Is this faggot trying to carry balls for some items or credit?" no i'm not and i dont give a damn about that too. I just want fellow gamers to respect each other and also have some patience to wait for things to be solve since we all do know that the hosts are trying their best. THEY ARE HUMAN BEINGS as well, have some respect and understanding.

items.pak wont work on XP?

 

Well, the 2.6 item.pak is a bit ... eh buggy
e.g you cant remodel items, cant trade remodelled items etc.

I suggest reusing the 2.5 item.pak for now :>

I havent tried the new item pak yet but I think I'll be working for a less-bugged item pak issue. Does 2.5 item pak work for xp users? anyone able to clarify that?

 

well, seeing all the problems being posted, i guess i'm one of the lucky ones.
my update was pretty straightforward, even my aion is bit customized(japanese voice packs, korean emotes, installed on different folder, etc).

here's what i did:
--put the folder back in program files(where I originally installed it), removed all voice packs/emotes/items and ga launcher, and copied the original items.pak back.
--i then ran the ncsoft launcher and updated to 2.6.
--ran aion from ncsoft launcher, to check if i can see login page(i had retail account but it's discontinued)
--closed the ncsoft launcher from the system tray
--downloaded the GA launcher and copied it to aion folder
--downloaded the 2.6 items.pak, moved the original from data/usa/items to another folder and copied the GA items.pak into this folder
--moved the ncsoft folder back to its folder(my games are in a 'Games' folder)
--launched GA launcher and logged into the game, checked abg trading, checked the black cloud trader(expensive ><) and so far so good.
