I'm making this thread in response to an event that took place not too long ago on Lumiel. An Elyos officer was jailed for "obelisk camping", and said officer was very verbal in LFG chat about their disapproval of the situation. Of course, this lead to many others (who most likely weren't there) speaking up for the officer and questioning the competency levels of the GMs that were involved in the incident. I, for one, completely agree with the decisions made by the GMs.

The way I see it, fortress camping and obelisk camping are two completely different things. It's one thing to guard the fortress doors and bait out any players who are capable of PvPing, and an entirely different thing to fly above the spawn point, waiting for the invulnerability timer to run out, and killing any and everyone, capable and/or willing to PvP or not. In this light, you are impeding someone's ability to play the game and have whatever they may consider to be an enjoyable experience. There is a pretty decent sized corridor leading into each fortress's interior, and anyone who passes through is consciously making that decision to fight on forbidden grounds, so to speak; therefore, this should be punished.

Another argument was that jailing players for this kind of action will return the PvP aspect of the game to it's ruined state and is forcing races to be segregated (which is why, you know, we have designated fortress's as opposed to a central hub.) This is a situation where this person has confused causation with correlation; the players aren't obelisk camping because the PvP is ruined, the PvP is ruined because players are obelisk camping. This in turn forces new players, or even veteran players who are just fed up with the act of not being able to spawn and at least have the chance to fight back, to leave the server.

This is, of course, all based on the definition of obelisk camping being confined to the interior of the fortress. I do not know the specifics as I'm not a GM or AM, but I think the exterior platforms and interior chambers are far enough from each other to where the anterior corridor can be defined as the "no pass" zone. I hope that both Asmodians and Elyos will stop camping the obelisks so that the people that are new to the server won't perceive the conditions as too harsh and leave before they even have a chance to delve into the PvP. If even just out of common courtesy and fundamental respect for other players, stop camping the spawn points and keep the fights outside.

Let's just keep everything amicable enough to where we don't force GMs and AMs to step in and start banning and jailing players.

In an effort to make things more clear for the Lumiel community as a whole, I've made a few suggestions that may or may not be implemented. The two most logical thoughts I've considered would be 1: Restore the shields to Teminon and Primum (which I agree would probably impact aerial pvp more negatively than desired) 2: Make the interiors of Teminon and Primum forts no-fly. (this one seems to be very amicable for everyone involved, if you choose to brave your way into the interior, it would be pretty difficult to find a way up to the obelisk to camp it)

Why don't we just FIX the spawn protection? If the spawn protection would work as it should be, people would be able to port away. Remember in 2.1 how 40 asmos were @ Undirborg, camping it? And elyos were regrouping @ one of the gates from Inggi Fortress to take Undir back? That + zerghill (When I was fishing like a madman) were the best pieces of PvP. I even miss the ping-pong zerging. Seriously, back then there were 50 ely vs 50 asmo, now it's 10 asmo vs 50 ely. That's why Inggi PvP sucks so much.

Thank you for the wonderfully worded post there.

Cannot say how nice it is for someone to see things from our point of view. Having been and still being a legit player of the game. I see both sides of the coin. However, sadly. Not everyone can appreciate what it is that we as AM have to do.

It's a rather delicate situation where we tread with jailing, due to how obelisk camping is perceived, as well as the race forts in the abyss. No one takes joy in sending someone to jail. Although what would the recourse be to allow some players to gain AP and or Kill Count, at the cost of others who are simply attempting to either heal up to join in the fight again, or port out.

I personally, do not enjoy sending players to jail. This is why I often offer a warning (in which we do not have to actually do, it is a courtesy that I provide to avoid sending players to jail). If after said warnings are ignored, therefore and inherently disobeying a request to allow free, and enjoyable game play for those who are being for simple terms, grieved.

This type of grieving has taken place many times, and is always punished in the same manor. A jail sentence as long as the player is online. No AM on this server enjoys punishing other players. It is a place of our position on the server to ensure fair and fun game play to everyone. If that is not understood by the players then I do not really know what to say to them other than, perhaps they should re-read the server rule set.

Though, perhaps the suggestions made by chronic may be implemented. Time will see there. However, for now. As I have suggested and requested before from both factions. Not to fly into the interior chamber of the fortresses as that simply leaves breeding for this sort of thing.

I do hope that, all of you can understand that we are doing our best to ensure fair game play for everyone on the server.

Thank you and best wishes to everyone.

best idea so far. Like earlier today, Sinister, The Five Gods and Os bruxos legion members(A whole ton of ranger gladiator and just that)were there, I was planning to lightburst an officer but he won't go out or is being killed by the rangers inside primum. I was like "FUUUUUU" let me lightburst so I can finally logout of game hahaha.

Its not just you know the spawn camping and what not. But also just porting there, say from altgard or something, a low level, just getting dragged into it and having to try multiple times to try to get past the fighting to get into the fortress to try to get 1 quest. I agree with the no fly zone inside, having them hover over the teleporters is really not fun for anyone, new to the game or veteran.

i thought i would never do this, but in this case i must say you are right !!

and as to you suggestions chronic.. why not fix the shields ? on retail they made the shields work 100 % to.

as to the pvp in inggison and gelk take the guards away from the gates so the players have more room to roam around. On Gamezaion, there is nobody srsly leveling in those maps. so we might as well use the whole map for pvp.
It would minimize the number of zergs a lot imo.
