Please put back Hotspam Section

This is not for any reason aside from the quality of these forums degrading.


Hotspam was always a pleasant and fun section to go to, where threads would be made and much epic chatter would go on.


Since the removal of hotspam from top 10 list, the amount of threads/posts made a day are at best the same percentage of me feeling like doing an awake craniotomy in 3:00 AM in the morning (moderately desireable... yet so severely low I question if its even graphable on a probability scale.).


Instead of epic threads, laughter, and joyful "hot spam"... we currently have crybabies, sadists and people who'd I'd assume are about as educated as Aunt-Hilda's left boot (Or sure, your grand-pappi's socks. Those work too in this metaphor.).

Examples?

-"Is glad nerfed?"
- *Insert some random crying about zergs* <-- Not just once. Try 5-9 times.
-"QQQQQ my items I never bought or even posessed are gone qqq!!"
-*Insert random person of a varied shady background qqing and pledging their allegance to E-rights and how they should be given a second chance and be unbanned for blatantly hacking*


Obviously, the forums quality has degraded from being a place many people go to/post in and enjoy to a miniature QQ-source... albit the ban appeals section isn't there as far as I'm aware.

I think how many posts are now made perday /threads and user activity will explain the rest. Unless I am completely oblivious and the forums are potentially moving faster, hurray then. But that doesn't stop it from being a quickly moving swamp of tears, dirt and intellectual downfall. (No insults intended towards anyone, its just describing the types of posts I've seen rather than say the word "banal"... which if I said I'd be smited by the heavens where I sit.)


Thank you for, potentially reading/skimming/insert other realistic scenario's... this post. And I hope that it is taken into consideration to putback hotspam onto the top10.

if would also be nice if we can customize it as well like preferences, like i don't want to see brazilian or some language i don't understand in this list (i have nothing against them)

 

If they could make it customizable, that would be great, other than that, I don't really want to have to see 6 or 7 threads in the top 10 with "Aegis" next to them when I log on every day. You already know how much I hate this ;p

 

I severely doubt you'll see that for the next few months @_@ might see 1-2 but I doubt that it'll be over 5.

Yes. Apparently I'm the only one that thinks your spam is annoying to any degree. Anyway, I guess it doesn't really matter that much. I don't even look at the top 10 most recent posts to moderate most of the time, I actually look in the sections themselves (whoa surprising right?). Most forums don't even have a top 10 most recent posts anyway >_>

 

I've suggested MANY times before to remove the top 10 completely, as it would add more activity throughout all the sections and encourage more thread searching as opposed to "if its not in the top 10, I don't need to look at it", but as I don't think Carl ever liked that suggestion, nor do I think he ever will, I'd say just add all the sections to top 10. All, or none.

Aegis' spam is quite annoying sometimes (sorry Aegis, its true), but that isn't a problem of the section itself nor should it be penalized for such. Removing a section from the top 10 just cuts it off from the rest of the forum. When part of the forum has an ease-of-access add-on such as the Top 10 Posts and one section doesn't, its like 95% of the forum is 2011 and Hot spam is 1995. Then people find loopholes to post elsewhere and you get more spam where it SHOULD NOT be, because they actually want their threads to be seen, and not for everyone else to just pass it by.

Really, there's just not any point to keep it off of the top 10 other than just not wanting to see the threads in general, but that's really unfair and degrading to the forums as a whole.

Either deal with the core issues that are causing Hot Spam to be an annoyance to the Top 10 (or whatever got it removed), or remove top 10 entirely so people can manually look around the forums.

 

I'm absolutely enthralled a 16 year old finds my posts (which aren't spam) irritating.


I'll remember to do that at the next neuro conference I go to, attempt to be less "spammy". @_@

Not that what I do should have any bearing upon an entire section, that is perhaps a compliment to me rather than a direct insult @_@

I'd agree with removal of top 10 COMPLETELY. This was one of the first forums I've been to that used it, it was good at first... but then got riddiculous.

People have become lazy and don't even check sections anymore. Which as you did say... causes overall desparity. +10000%.

 

I still think that the idea of it being customizable was a good one, though I think it would be somewhat hard to do. If people want to see it they can, if they don't want to see it they don't have to. Problem solved.

And that is, customizable to where you can see certain sections and block others, not turning it on or off, you can already do that.

SOME of your posts aren't spam, however SOME of them are. Notice I said your SPAM was annoying, not your posts. The spam ones are the ones where you create pointless threads in order to gain attention (at least it's what it looks like) or just post for the sake of posting then posts nonsense in them, OR post in a thread with an answer that totally disregards the question or just insults the thread poster without actually insulting them directing (which is spam, to me, pointless posts.) There are other instances but I'd rather keep this short and simple.

 

I can't even figure out how to remove sections with the top 10 I use on my forums (though, I might have a different add-on that doesn't work well for it, compared to Gamez), so I don't see it being all too easy to customize it for each person.

 

One solution would to be balls-forward method and make multiple top-10 options people can choose from.

Another one would be having a checklist type of box where you can add or remove channels coming into it (Thinking somewhat like the very chat inside of Aion atm).

I am no comp sci major, so I don't know.

But it shouldn't be too difficult.

I admit I can get carried away... but this is a game forum. I love to come here to play around and to be silly.

But I don't really want anymore attention, at least anymore. o.o there may have been a time I did, but right now I probably have a bit too much (I have what seems to be a dedicated-stalker-squad ingame of people I'm pretty sure are on these forums that will camp me for hours and if I kill them come back, etc X_X).

But I do apologize for the spam that I do. And I'm sure that in the next few months... it will be diminished further =s

 

hopefully there's a way to make it work like thread subscriptions work. only this time it would be like section subscriptions e.g. filtering localized sections from your list(or if you want, hot spam) i think would be great.

not actually lazyness but more of convenience. people use forums differently, some prefer to only see certain sections or topics and not have to dig deep into all the forum sections.
