Refer to site: Gaming Laptops Specialist -- ASUS, SAGER, MSI, Alienware - Gaming Laptops

    Looking for:
1280x800 resolution, greater or equal to 14 inch
less than $3000(better if less than $2000)
    not interested in looks
long lasting performance (hours of non stop gaming :x)
OS of Windows XP or newer

Being a young student with little $$, I'm looking at the Sager brand. Thoughts?

yea desktops r way cheaper and get u a lot more performance. if u really do want a gaming laptop, make sure u go for higher ghz over more cores, most apps these days still support only 1-2 cores and dont have proper multithreading so yea

then again, u can easily get a decent gaming laptop under $2000 so if u have money to spare then sure, go for it

    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280M - Notebookcheck.net Tech

u can use this site to compare various laptop graphic cards performance, even lists the FPS in the most recent games to give u a better idea of how good itll be

Yeah, I know desktops are better. Looking for a laptop so I can move it around... and occupy less space.
Hehe, I usually play games and have around 20+-fps(on med-low settings). I'll be happy if it reaches 30+ :)

To everyone else, thanks for all tha info so far! :D

    Msi

for 2000 bucks you can buy a great laptop.
The bottleneck is usually the gpu and not the cpu.
    I use a laptop with a GTS 160M card.
It works great, even if its an old card.
The only 14" lappy that I know of, thats made for gaming is the Alienware M14x.

Of course a desktop is better and a tp cable instead of wifi, but its your own needs
are more important. Mobility is a must for me so I wouldnt get a desktop, I rather
lower the graphic and connect to the wifi....

Okay, just an update. I'm deciding between Sager's NP7280-S1 and NP7280, and Dell's Alienware M14x(or the new Razer Blade?). Thoughts?

I'd rather not use the net-cafe. Being around people isn't me :x I'd rather get a new one and pass my worthless laptop to my sister or something xD I'm willing to spend no more than 3000, already saved up around $300++

Spending more than 2k on a laptop is just a waste...

But anyway, you'll be able to find decent laptops with decent graphics for under $1500. (Well, at least you can here in Australia, I'm assuming you're from the US?)

Oh, and one last thing, stay away from "gaming" laptops... they're just flashier versions and not worth the money. *Cough* Alienwares crap *cough*
