Seattle, WA - October 11, 2011 – NCsoft[SUP]®[/SUP], the world's premier publisher and developer of massively multiplayer online games (MMOs), is proud to announce its partnership with Innova, a game publisher known for providing Lineage[SUP]®[/SUP] II service in Russia, to service Lineage II Free to Play in Europe. Current Lineage II European players who already have NCsoft West accounts can continue to play on existing NCsoft West servers.
Meanwhile, NCsoft West is planning a new Hybrid business model tailored for its players. This new business model provides features an order of magnitude greater than those of a conventional subscription model, and creates a new way to play. Additional details will be announced soon.

seems like mmos r moving more towards f2p + cash shop rather than monthly fees. seems to work better

Ehhh? Only in Russia? I don't really get it but maybe its because I'm just tired ._.

Either way, good news but I probably won't go back. I have good memories of L2 and I love the game, but knowing me I'll give up on the grind again and blow up all my gear

 

I wouldn't mind the model if it was buy the game and then have a cash shop for very minor things. Outfits and what not.

but I really dislike convenience stuff. e.g: On dragon's nest you can buy items to make sure your items wont break during the enchantment process from cash shop (they can still fail, but not break), or things to unbind equipment so you can sell it, etc. etc., and even though those aren't required for gameplay, they make a big ass difference to people that can use them. Costumes are perfectly fine though imo.

Either way I'd prefer for games to at least have an initial purchase. It helps benefit the company greatly and it makes the community stronger, just by that one small purchase

I believe this is the correct way to express my feelings about this

 

rohan: blood feud did that and it became very successful, same as skill upgrades (lvl 5 skills max, lvl 6 with ingame enh stone, u can make it lvl 7 for 30 days with item mall stones). people buy many of these every month, same as 30 day costumes and 30 day all stats, exp scrolls, drop seals etc)

but they went overboard and killed 6 of their servers with overpowered item mall weps. people raged when they went on sale ($230 for an insanely overpowered weapon), some sold all their stuff to get one or quit. its funny looking back, people raged coz of $230, now it sells on the exchange market for $2,000 and up. u could buy a godly pc or a few pixels lol

 

If I am not mistaken, All European Countries Will be able to play LA 2 for free ..

 

I know its successful to do but I hate it and will probably refuse to play any MMO that does something like that. Cash shop -ok
People making me jealous with their cool outfits - ok
People making billions of gold off of unbinding things when I can't - ......gtfo

Its smart from a money standpoint to sell stuff like that, but it shouldn't be needed especially if people have to purchase the retail version of the game first, and in no way should the cash shop come in the way of player enjoyment. Its fine if they do things that just make one player happier, but making it harder on players that don't pay is stupid for a cash shop.

I played l2 almost 5 years and i'm not going to play it again, even if it's free

 

This is the main reason i quit most of the free games i played (And i am also going to quit Vindictus soon... the effin avatarshop requires real cash.)

They say "We don't give them advantage over the other players , we give them fashion items only"

Which fashion items are not obtainable from the game
Which leads in them Selling the fashion items for billions/good gear
Which ends up making half of the Players quit.

It's like telling someone on retail Aion now "We give someone fashion only if he donates". He will sell it for ABG and kill you with it , same cr4p.

And no , don't tell me give the donators untradeable items , some sell their accounts for items. Like , i give u my donation item account and you give me an abg set on my other account. You change the email/etc. and there is no way i can take the account back - deal!



ps: Plechac , by saying "I'm Greek" , i did not mean that i am gonna rage because it will not be available for Greeks. I know all europeans will be able to play it. What i meant was that i was happy , because the most played mmorpg by Greeks is lineage.

Not exactly o.o' you can get 1.5k vip in gamez in a month while you need a year to get an abg set on retail lol.

It is diffirent because if you keep getting killed by someone on retail who has abg you'll ragequit thinking u'll need ages to get that set and until then, a better one will be released lol.

In gamez , you'll just be patient until u get what u need by voting which doesn't that that long *cough*.

 

Going back to topic,...
I was playing L2 also for about 6 years (since C4) and now that it went to the latest version Goddes of Destruction and alos became FREE, i think i had an instant orgasm.. i quited L2 because there were no stable bugless servers out there.. and the low rates ones were just killing me.. but now when you can become 40 in like 3-4 hours.. depending how many people are there.. and its still x1 is really making me very very happy.

It opened 11 days ago so its still no problem to start there! And also the new mentoring system is good for everyone so thatthe high lvls help the ones that are low lvls.. its just awesome!
And also as it is the official i dont have to worrie that it will eventually close down.. L2 going trult free made me think if i wantto continue wasting my time here.. and i figured out that i dont want it so after this im gonna post a account giveaway theard.. :3

Also my share about the concept of a game to be free and then if you want extra items you can pay and use the money shop.. well i think its sssssuuuupppeeeer - the items are not like +16 or thing that cant be optained by normal gaming.. ok about the costumes.. its ok that some people want to differ from thos who dont pay. In the russian official there is this billionaire guy who thows in the game thousand and thousands of dollars and he is also quite OP.. because he invists a mindblowing amount of money in the game (talking about DanielDefo) and that is waht the russian official (inova) aims for.. that wont happen to the english official.. and besides atm there things you can donate for are just rare consumables and everyday consumables.. and some fashion items.. i can live with that if i can play the game for free lol.. want to see hes face when he goes down with hes "cool" hat lol..

i dont remember what i wrote in the beginning so ill beter stop this post and will finish a finishing sentence.. :3

When a game goes F2P, it most likely is on the verge of dying, just saying.

 

Couldnt agree more. They milked out L2. Make it free to play. L3 comes out in the near future wich will be P2P. open a shop for L2 so they can atleast earn some money from the game still

 

i agree with you.. propably becasue lineage is on so long and it cant attract more people to play it by just updating the chronicles they decided to change the whole concept of it so it can last a couple of years longer.. i dont mind! Btw Tera has made a very good payment method - you must pay to enter the game but after that you can manage to buy game time with in game goods from other players that puy game time.. its like the same as in the movie "In Time"
