[Suggestion] Gamez's Sponsors

Well I was talking to some legion mates in vent and turned out I'm not the only addict to gamez that has donated over $1,000 and the idea just popped out. I'd like to suggest for another forum tag, Gamez's sponsors. Thanks to us the server is running well, healthy and has improved a lot more in the last months. The tag would consists of having the text: "Gamez's Sponsors" on a shiny-flashy way (anyone who could make a Design would really help). The requirements would be 1,000$ donated to the server and prove of it with receipts. There are few of us who has donated over 1k so it would be like a trophy to us and a way of carl showing that he at least appreciates the investment we've done on his server and community.

But to answer without imagery or guitars.

No... we don't need to have a widely-stated elite-class of people here with a fancy title. I have seen the effects of that, and they have been proven. Psychological bigotry from a little image and then we have a bunch of elitists like that The_Goat guy who spouts on and on that he donated 30k... I mean for real? That is wonderful. But that doesn't mean that he, or anyone else, should expect god-like treatment. And thats what this title would probably do.

VIP title is very common, but its not uncommon to see a VIP forum member go "LOL NON VIP TRASH I HELPED SERVER LOOK AT HOW MUCH YOU SUCK". Let alone imagining what people who did donate 1k would do to a "petty commoner trash". Plus, in the end, it may even bend how staff looks to one and infracts/etc. Perhaps not directly told, but they would be more reluctant to infract or ban someone with that title.

Yes, the novel idea would be interesting.... but speaking as someone who has read the research on that, I'd rather never see it come here.

Not everyone is like that Goat tard seriously. And people who act like that over a tag would be... ignorant. In the end, I think we should receive a tag better than a VIP tag that most of the people who has it, has been AM's and never donated a dime in the first place. Just saying anyways thanks for your opinion this sounds like someone in the higher ups disagreed making you disagree too hehe.

And the issue is, many people ARE like that. They feel entitled after "sponsoring", and they do expect better treatment. I'm not saying you would, I really am not, but most people would.

And not to bash or anything but its kind of things like "been AM's and never donated a dime in the first place" that only serve my point better.

I never quite understood the token or ideal of why VIP was even implemented in the first place. It separates the community, and one of the reasons why Gamezaion is so respected is the fact that we treat people as individuals regardless of education, status, donations, etc. We don't have AM's that get killed on their non-AM character and then log their AM character and blast the witless individual that PK'd them.

Then there is the conundrum of the fact that we already have people complaining... a lot! about the trade section, I myself have recieved I swear 20-30 already. How "we can only bump every 24 hours but VIPs can bump more! unfair!". This new status would imply to them, furthermore, that they are "second class". Although now VIP would be that, reducing them to a tertiary class... which in reality makes many people discouraged.

I'm not ever going to say the contribution isn't helpful. But in reality, were you donating to sponsor Gamez, or for items? Perhaps you are unique and you did it from the goodness in your heart, but 99.99999999999999999999999999999999995% of people no doubt think of it as a miniature transaction... and I'll bring up the Goat again for the proof.

It's not like sponsoring a hospital, or a cancer drive, or etc... here it in reality does feel like a microtransaction. So sponsoring... that is a bit of a stretch in my mind. Considering how its all automated, it is easy to get you the stuff and effortless on the servers part, but aside from that one generally expects to benifit from their "donation". Which, in essence, cancels out the fact it is a donation in most peoples mind. I am not dellusional enough to believ eotherwise.

But thats just my 25 cents at this point lol.

Agreed. Theres more then 1 way too help the server. Just because u donated over 1k(ill reach that too prolly) doesnt mean u should have a seperate badge. and im agreeing to what Aegis says too.

 

give me 1,000 Euros and i will go out naked with a big paper that says


'Join Gamez Aion now! Best Aion Server"

I don't know if that title would look good, i mean you wasted 1,000 bucks on a completely instable and unfinished Server.
And who promises you it'll stay that way? NCSoft is already making a move to sue private server.

 

Even if it would look good. U dont want to create 2 seperate worlds on the internet aswell, Rich/poor lol. We have enough of that in RL already.
