I'm curious to see what they will be charged with.

BEIJING – Police formally arrested two drivers suspected of running over a toddler who died a week after she was struck on a busy market street in southern China and was ignored by passers-by, newspapers reported Sunday.

The Beijing News and other outlets said Sunday police in the city of Foshan concluded their initial investigation and ordered the two men formally arrested, a step that almost always leads to a trial.

It did not say what they were being charged with and calls to Foshan police were unanswered.

The death of 2-year-old Wang Yue gained widespread coverage in the Chinese media and prompted soul-searching over declining morality and callousness toward the sufferings of others.

The accident on Oct. 13 was captured by gruesome security camera footage, leading to police identifying the vehicles.

For seven minutes after the first van struck the girl, 18 people walked or cycled by the bleeding toddler before a scrap picker scoops her up and takes her to her mother, who rushes into the street looking for her.

Human is the highest form of animal, and what differs us from other animals is that we are rational and obviously can communicate and look much better than other animals. Though sometimes, some humans tend to let go of their rationality and act as irrational beings. Those doesn't differ with an alligator that will just eat whatever is in its territory. And those humans can't even be compared to a trained dog, it is way much better than them!!

I hope that at least they may serve the justice that toddler deserves.

The reason why she was left there for so long is because in China if someone gets hit, and you pick them up, you get blamed, and charged for their injuries and into all kinds of legal trouble.

It's sad, and unethical to leave her behind, but it would be inconvinient economically/legally to pick her up for them.
    It's terrible.

Seriously, what type of bullshit law is that? Trapped themselves in their own bullshit, should of helped for the sake of being human. I don't mind facing charges, at least I know in further years, that child would thank me for saving their life.

Not so much of a law really. It mainly stims from several cases in not just China but in other countries as well. People have begun to sue the people that save them. Some of them claim that the person that saved them caused them more damages than whatever had befallen them previously.

This reminds me somewhat of this Woman Sued After Saving Friend From Wrecked Car

This also makes me wonder Rescuers suing woman they saved from fiery crash

It's sad when the first thing you have to think of when you see someone needing help is if you're going to be sued or not for helping them ->>

Yeah, you won't know till you're in that situation, and know the consequences.
    It's different over there.

I do agree, it's inhumane to just walk away from someone like that.
    Very sad as well.

Yeah, this is where I was going.

Oh, good responses guys, you're much better at it than I am.
I'll read into that one too.

Well I'm sorry for having a clean conscious, maybe if I had a thirst for money I could easily walk over a dying man in those countries.

Just how it works in the end. It's sad when money is worth more than a human life.

Sadly this isn't the fantasy world we want where people do genuinely kind things for others out of the goodness of their hearts and not seeking some form of compensation in turn. Not saying everyone is like this, but quite a lot are. We live on Earth, plain and simple as that.

I could do more with money than a random person's life.

For instance the money could be used to buy me a new house and that human could grow up to be a serial killer.

Or grow up to be another Einstein, a Da Vinci or a civil rights activist for struggling countries.

Beat me to it. While you may see someone who could grow up to be a serial killer, Ablazed, you really have no idea who that person could have become. If said person had become a serial killer, then that's just something we would have to deal with. We can't predict what people will become by looking at them. The quote may be cliche, but you should never judge a person by what they look like. That person could very well end up saving your life in the future.

Some of you may take the odds, but I rather live for personal enjoyment and prosperity instead of others...as shallow as that may sound.

I guess you could, but they'll be a day where you will ask yourself: Was it all worth it in the end?

Also I can't message you in either visitor or PMs.
