They're cute, but Poms get ALOT of problems when they get a little older. The most coomon one I see is skin infections / yeasty skin.
    Do some research before buying.

    It's a great present for a child, if that's what you're doing. : )

If Melanie is your kid, don't get them until she knows how to keep responsibilities. If she isn't your kid, or if she's old enough, sure.

Those dogs have a lot of health problems, though.

EDIT: Dc beat me to it. :c

well if it's some baby, better don't buy them yet :S
Make sure she's not allergic to dogs, make sure this dog's hair doesn't cause some kind of illness like the cats' hair, etc. And what deadlychants said also o.o

Get a persian cat instead btw o.o

I know right lol they are cute indeed.

Well now that you mention it, it seems that you know about this breed, are they aggressive? I have a chihuahua yogi and he is annoying as hell and very aggressive, I might give him to a shelter cause every time melanie comes to my house I have to lock him in the bathroom -.-

I've always felt it depends on how you raise 'em. I seen a lot of good poms (Good enough to let me put a catheter in their arm) and some who wouldn't even let me touch the top of their head without trying to kill me.

Just do some research before buy a dog. A lot of people buy certain breeds and end up paying for it when they turn 3-6. Poms being one of them. ;p

Edit: Also, what isin said. You don't want a dog whos just gona sit in the backyard all day every day. He'll be like a child. D:

Depends on the breeder, if the pups were spent time with, and socialized with from the minute they were born, they're going to be great with kids. My dad owned one when I was a kid, and it wasn't nippy/bitey at all, it wouldn't bark, and it was a loving dog.

    EDIT: Damnit, Dc..

I thought they were stuffed toys at first, but damn they are...cute =/

I read the wiki article on them and it does say that even a "well-bred dog on a good diet with appropriate exercise will have few health problems"

In terms of behaviour they are apparently very friendly, intelligent and bonds with owners easily.

Most Pom's aren't aggressive. I have come across a few that are, but its really rare. If you chihuahua is aggressive, try going for a calm relaxed dog to counter-act his behavior. You might have to go a lil bigger then a chihuahua...

Im assuming you want a decently small dog for her?

her mom has to do that malc, btw hi bro :)

lol. Well the female was really nice but the male was a little grouchy, not barking or anything he was just bored of being alive I think.

Yes I was thinking the same, I'll get a couple.

thanks for the info Kenny, I'm doing some research now and you're right.

hi meg, well I think I'll get rid of yogi in the next pass I get and buy Melanie the poms, I really don't have time for dogs this is for Melanie not for me.

    I have 4 atm lol
and the sh't they produce is quite a load lol
one wipes his butt on the walls as well D:

but yeah, theyre really really fluffy (except when they malt :c) and mellow.
its really rare to get a pure pomeranian, so one that does become a fluffball. but the ones in your photo are quite adorable anyways xoxo

$800 is pretty cheap too, in AUS at least.
i went to the dogshow, and they were $600+ each lol

edit: And when they grow old, their skin does start to sog a bit. Fur growth is reduced too
but thats only happening to 2 of them that are at least 6-7 years old
