Aion has crashed (dreaded 1024)

My friend has recently reinstalled Aion and is getting the crash on "NCSoft" splash screen. I have been working with him for the past hour, searching the forums, and attempting to figure out what is causing his crash issue.

We have tried the following...
downgrade to 2.7.0.0
Repair
Direct x 9.0c

Are there any other things we could try to get this up and running? Any and all ideas are welcome at this point. Terribly annoying >.<

Maybe,you put the new item.pak at the wrong path
>aion/data/USA/items (replace it,better to keep a back up in case the file is broken)

 

The items.pak file was placed in the correct location after I questioned him about the location of where he saved it. It still crashed but this time it gave another crash error. It said a file stopped working. This is the error log that came with the crash.

Alright, well he repaired and once again downgraded and replaced the items.pak and it magically worked... Beats me what happened in the middle there but problem solved.
