Restart & Downtime announcments

Could you guys post announcements of restarts and updates 5-10minutes before server goes down?

this 30-60 seconds announcement is not enough, most servers/games i have played on admins will give announcements of 5-10 minute to lets everyone find a safe place to log out and or take care of things they are doing (trades, crafting, farming and whatnot).

Unexpected crashes nothing we can do about them but normal restarts and updates you guys can let us know ahead of time.

sometimes admins themselves dont know when server will restart, why? simple because they have to call carl so as soon as he ends up asnwering or w/e then they can do a restart so they are never sure in how long restart will happen unless of course they decide to postpone restart for 5-10 mins so they can alart you about it but sometimes they are in a hurry to fix whatever bug is happening

 

that made no sense at all. Carl knows exactly when he is going to restart the server for either updates or just a normal restart and can easaly post an in game announcement giving players enough time to finish up what their doing and find a safe place to log out.

the 30 second warning is not enough and most times there is NO warning message in game leaving alot of people with a chance of loosing items cause of a sudden restart or shut down with slim or NO warning at all.

 

How is 30 seconds not enough time? In 30 seconds, unless you're attempting to fly all the way across the abyss, you can pop wings from a fight, fly to a safe location and sit there. In 30 seconds, if you're in the middle of a trade, you can say "meet me here after the restart" and hit the cancel button on the trade window. If you're in a PVP fight, 30 seconds is more than enough time to die or run.

now, if there's no 30 second announcement, then sure, you have a valid point. but aside from crashes, i've never experienced a planned shutdown here where an announcement didnt pop up every 10 seconds in the center of my screen telling me to logout for the last 30-60 seconds.

 

They usually announce it, when there is 5 minutes left before a reboot.

 

this last restart did have a message of 30 seconds, now take into consideration that it takes 10 second just to log out that leaves 20 seconds to get to a safe spot to log out. Even on this message of 30 seconds i was in a safe spot but on attempting to log out the server had prematurely shut down.

I guess its really that hard to give a 2-5-10 minute warning for shut downs. but then again no GM has even looked at this thread sooooo......

yes they have long ago, but recently within the past few weeks no they havnt, you get a message now and instantly server goes down either the message said 30 seconds or 60 seconds doesnt matter it just goes down instantly.

 

Actually he is kinda right. Like for example lets say you in a dungeon like Adma stronghold or theobamas labs and your not far from getting to the npc to buy armor from and then. blam! 30 second restart pops up... Now your screwed cause 30 seconds aint enough time to get ur armor and im sure you went through hell to get that far to get it. and when you log back on ur not in dungeon anymore.

That crap hurts. no to mention if it happens while your fighting tahabata and her health isent even half way down yet....so yea it really aint enough time depending on situation. :rightful:

 

Imagine buying a bunch of stuff from ITEM SHOP and then login and acquire those items while server will restart in 30 sec..

Typically on all the servers I've played they will announce it 5 - 10 min beforehand with chat warning for every 10 secs.

Just to make sure people will have plenty of time to logout..

Sorry but no, 30 seconds is little time. If you are given 5 minutes THEN you do have time to finish whatever youre doing (except DP and instances like that) without rush. That's how it should be done.

Note : Once the 30 seconds are announced, you can't type.

 

Most the time when they are gonna do a scheduled restart they announce "Server restart in 30secs/1 min. Please Quest the game".

Really the only time they don't announce is when the server.

Imo, it doesn't matter. When they say log off just log off >.>
