A circus performer has finished his show, and returns to his room.
The second he sees his room, he pulls out a gun and kills himself.
Why?

The first performer had done such a horrible job at his act that he had committed suicide, so when the second performer (his brother) entered the room and saw him dead, he didn't want to live any more so he ended his life.

Short clown + saw dust = something that was vital to his success and livelihood was damaged to the point where he couldn't survive.
