File size question

just wondering, how much does file size matter to people these days?

just curious coz of the fixes, is it better to make one that works for the majority people (and needs 1 file copy pasted to another location to work for the rest, its big) or one that will work for everybody but is twice the size

option 1 - works for most (1 extra step for the rest) and is 53mb
option 2 - works for everybody but is 95mb

does it matter?

thought so too but idk if there r still people with slow/unstable net who care. i guess below 100mb its still ok.

 

2) here too. If your connection is to slow to handle 95mb you probably shouldn't be playing anyways

its just a simple update (takes like 1 min at most), grab the file and slap it into ur aion folder, shouldnt be a problem, im trying to avoid overwriting the entire bin32 folder to bypass the directx error and include the data.pak from both locations to bypass the wogg whatever error. just need people to make sure its really working be4 i make it the main fix knowing this method works will make it much easier in the future

IMO, number 1 is better. People should start learning how to fix technical problems on their PC, it will only help them in the future.

true but not every1 speaks english and following steps isnt easy when ur a beginner on a pc to begin with. at the same time we all know how much of a b!tch aion is with errors coming left and right xD

 

It was just my 2 cents. People are so lame sometimes that they just forget to learn the art of using their PCs and to use their brain.

It's just too bad that people don't care to find out more about they are able to do with the technology they got into their hands. There is curiosity about the others' lives, but about learning something new and useful. Meh...

 

yea knowing the basics helps a lot but people come to play games to have fun and relax, not stress over errors xD still basic file extraction and copy pasting is used frequently

 

ok guys if u wanna help me test it, update to 2.7.0.2 and grab this file

check that 2.7.0.2 can get at least to the login screen, close ur client, then extract it and overwrite whatever it asks for in ur aion folder, then try login again. that should be everything. also replaced it in the experimental stage of the guide. guess i should start praying right now xD

ok, so I spoke too soon, It works until just after the character select, then it crashes

 

1 more question: what operating system do u use (mine is win 7 64bit, wanna see if others work fine)

any specific errors? first time i see that one, try another char or make a new 1 see if it still happens, just to check its not a stuck char

After a few more tries... I did have a bin32 error for the first two logins... which is when I posted:

Then after your reply I went to log in again so I could type it out verbatim, and it didn't show up. Now its just disconnecting me from the server right after the landscape loads. I even tried creating a new character after the 3rd try on my main.

Wish I was more help.
