    The google example has a * in it which is multiply

    3 x 3 = 9.

    I don't see the stupid unless i am an idiot myself.

    You can still figure it out even without the * since / = division and ()=multiplication but your correct the answer is 9.

    It has to do with using the parenthesis or not, not the multiply symbol ><

    And anyway google used parenthesis for 6/2 while the version of 9gag didn't, right

    but even then you still get the same answer. 6/2(1+2) = 6/2(3) = 3(3) = 9

    but i think the point to this thread is that Google is smart and can't be fooled ! >:O

    Pemdas has multiplication before division so isnt it 2*3 which is 6 then 6/6 = 1?

    That is true I've totally forgot about Pemdas since i havent used it in ages so your probably right if 9GaG was using Pemdas method. But if i remember correctly isn't pemdas's #1 rule Parentheses 1st?

    The correct answer is 9.
    First you need to do what is between parentheses. which makes u go for 6/2*3
    After u do division or multiplication, which comes first. so we end up with 3*3
    Finish multiplying. 3*3 = 9

    Everybody is wrong !
    6:2(1+2) = 6:2+4 = 3+4 = 7
    4 = 2*1 + 2*2

    Answer is 7 [IMG]

    Order of operation.

    Without parentheses, this is correct.

    Parentheses first -> (1+2) = 3
    -> 6/2*3

    2 scenarios:
    a. (6/2)*3 = 9
    b. 6/(2*3) = 1

    CONCLUSION: calculation order ambiguity. The one who came up with the question is a feggit.
