First off, there are 3 races in this game, Elyos, Asmodians, and the Balaurs. Now,unless you tell me what class you are aiming to make, I can't really tell you about skills and build.

There are many ways to level up. One, you can kill mobs. Two, you can do quests, campaigns and regular ones. If you wanna hit the level cap which is 55, fast, then you can look for a mentor in LFG channel, /3.

The two most useful profession in this game are Alchemy (making potions, scrolls, tomes/orb) & Cooking. It's up to you if you just craft stuff for self usage like I do, but these professions are a good way to make kinah (in game currency) too.

There are teleporters in each every city and village that will port you to other regions. You can also buy scrolls instead of having to teleport each time. These scrolls are usually sold by general goods merchant in every city, like Sanctum in your case.

I hope this will help you and should you have more questions you can always ask people in LFG channel or ask any online GM by typing .gmlist to find out who's online. Good luck!

Adding along to what Sweetpoison said, there are guides posted on the forums that can fully describe the fastest steps to leveling up.

    For instance: http://forum.gameznetwork.com/f64/[guide]-power-leveling-7-easy-steps-both-factions-111739/

    That's just one of many.
It's also helpful to find a nice legion who would be willing to coach you on things happening in-game.
There are certain areas that an Elyos might travel where he'll run into the opposing faction (Eltnen, Heiron, Abyss, and Inggison).

Before deciding all of this though, it's always good to know what kind of playstyle you would prefer.
The "classes" that you are referring to are: Gladiator, Templar, Ranger, Assassin, Cleric, Chanter, Sorceror, and Spirit Master.

There are also some other threads that can help you with the "lingo" used in-game.

    "SM" refers to "Spirit Masters".
    "VGO" is "very good offer".
    "BT" applies to Beshumundir Temple.
    "ToS" is Temple of Scales.
    Etc. etc.
The list goes on and on.

I never thought I'd get so much information.

    Thanks a lot.

well, to be honest I even couldn't find a chat field. I saw people writing but I myself couldn't write a word.

    sweetpoison
When I created my character there were only two races: Elyos and Asmodians. Also, I couldn't select Asmodians, I had no privilege to. I created mage and yet I don't know which profession does what, so my choice might be mindless. Though, in L2 I used to be Soultaker all the time. It won't be bad if I still follow that line.

As I realized Alchemy & Cooking are some kind of like buffing and helper professions. So they are passive in fighting and are less interesting imho. Yes, I found teleporters but I wasn't allowed to teleport, only flight teleport was able for me.

and finally what does LFG channel mean?:lol:

Balaur is a non-playable race. But they participate in the story line of aion and you'll see them doing stuffs like capturing fortresses(Dredgion ship)
if everytime you login you will see this texts:

You have joined the LFG Channel.
You have joined the Trade Channel.
You have joined the (your class) Channel.
LFG you must write "/3" then write what you want
    Trade is "/1"
    group chat is "/p"
    Legion chat is "/L"
    and more.

The classes you can choose from mage is spiritmaster and sorcerer, spiritmasters can summon spirits as helping hands, they have skills to increase your offensive and defensive abilities in pvp and can debuff and weaken enemies. Sorcerers are the nuke class, their skills are consisted of massive damage and some defensive skills too.

LFG means Looking for group chat but here in this server it is used for trade mostly. You can press shift+V to check the list of groups looking for members to do some stuffs like instances, capturing forts or fighting off the opposing race.

Alchemy and cooking is important in this game :p

Being an alchemist you can craft your own scrolls that can increase your Running speed(most vital scroll), casting and attack speed. And cooking is a crafting profession that can allow you to make candies that can see invisible players(Hide) transformation candies and very useful buffs that lasts a long time(if you don't die)

You call it guild in other games I think(Legion)

Well, that's because Balaur is the non playable race. But they are an important race in the storyline of this game. You will see them in different regions and instances once you reach a higher level. On the screen where you were given a chance to choose which race you wanna play, you just have to click Asmodian or Elyos, & it should let you. All classes in this game can do all the professions that I mentioned. When you reach level 9, you will be given a campaign quest automatically, which you are required to do in order to level up. It's called Ascension It's a very simple quest. You just have to talk to 4 NPCs in Ishalgen and once you enter the prophecy set up by Munin and finish it, you will talk to Munin again, and then you will be given a chance to choose which sub class you would like, be it Sorcerer ( a nuke class) or a Spiritmaster (you summon spirits that assists you during fights). I'm not quite sure what the exact equivalent of Soultaker in this game is, but I would say it's either a Templar or a Gladiator.

Even if you don't do Alchemy and cooking, you can always buy the potions, scrolls, and foods at the Broker. But they cost a fortune, so unless you have a lot of kinah, I would really suggest that you do either one of those professions.

LFG means Looking for Group. A legion, or a guild, is like your main family in game. Finding a good legion will help you a lot in this game, if they are able to answer any of your daily questions, take you to instances, help you get geared, etc. You get the idea.

    Good luck!

A legion is the term for "guild" in this game.
You can find legions for your needs in the "Legions Section" on the forums, or you could try applying for one in-game.

Like many have said, you can use "/3" in-game to do an "LFG" shout, or you could make an application and submit it to a thread.
Currently, I know that we, < Kitty Raiders >, are looking for active, English-speaking people to be recruited.

There are currently four "groupings" that can be explained.
First, there's the legion that you read about in the above sentences.
Then, there's the "group", which is a small party of 2-6 people.
Once you get more than six people, it breaks into an alliance, which holds up to 24 people in 4 groups (found by press "L").
Last but not least, you have a "league", which is an even bigger grouping of alliances.

    Hope this helps.~

Wow to be entirely honest I wasn't aware there were such nice people to reply to topics like his, good job guys :p
*edit* if you want a soul taker type of character you would probably want a spirit master, they use pets just like soul takers do, and can have their damage received transferred to the character just like soul takers.
*edit again* Spirit Masters also have a few abilities where they can damage the enemy and absorb hp from the attack. Soul Takers are the same as Necromancers for people who don't know :)
