Never said anything about not staying because they don't pay me. Not sure where you got that. I am only making the point that you cannot reasonably expect someone to be on line AT ALL HOURS OF THE DAY with volunteer work. I stay and devote as much time in the day as i have available while still maintaining my commitments to my family, my friends, and in certain cases guilds that i may be a member of. As for my time zone, if you bothered to look to the left of my post, you'd see i am in michigan. Which would equate to GMT -5.

And the reason people rage quit is because they just cannot handle the demands of the job. There are reasons why some of us are still around and others are not. This particular point in time happens to be one of the inactive periods of the year due to exams, the other being before Christmas holidays because of again, exams. And we do have more than 1 am for lumiel, but razor is bulgarian if i remember, so he's only on really in the morning US times and elianne is busy with school currently. As for "Previous" staff members doing their jobs better than i do. Maybe they did, Maybe they didn't. But, They either left because they didn't have the time, or the patience for the job anymore, or for other reasons (Abuse of powers, disagreements with other staff members etc etc).

As before, will continue adding more to this when i think of it. Busy doing things like cooking dinner.

Everyone got its own way how to help this community. Most of the people spend a lot of time online for their own reasons, but you cannot compare the GMs by the time that they spend with the help that they offer. There were GMs who were online for many hours and did nearly zero job. On the other hand there were GMs used to log in for few hours, but the job they would do was more than enough. Some people work slow and some others work fast. The final outcome is the effort of each GM, not the time spent online.

Being GM and staying inactive is just plaint stupid. If you have the time to log-in in order to ***** around the forums, then why not to log-in the game and do your job for a couple of hours, right? I mean, it's all about the will and the organisation of your time, properly.

Not sure if this was directed at me but I will respond anyway. Yes, I have the time to take five minutes every so often to make a post on the forums. But consider your own argument revolving around the actual value-added time spent in game; would me taking the same five minutes I spent posting on the forums, and putting it to in game time, have any real impact? The probability of me logging in and doing something helpful within five minutes is very unlikely, the reason being it would either be dragged out beyond five minutes (event requests, problem resolutions, hacker tracking, etc.) or simply nothing would be going on in said time bracket at the very moment. Maybe answer a question or two that any other experienced player could address. We are no different than the rest of you - we only have the ability to make the community a better place.

No, I admittedly do not have exceptional time management skills. Henceforth why I spend my time at the library, instead of studying at home. =)

While this is somewhat true, Coming on the forums for 5-10 minutes here and there, is completely different than logging ingame. We are not allowed to afk in game on our am characters. Which means each time we go afk for more than maybe, the time it takes to grab a beer or use the restroom (more than 5 minutes basically) we are required to log out. Also assuming you don't outright announce your online (Which if your on line for 5 minutes is a bad idea because well, the potential to get flooded and not be able to answer more than 1-2 questions is a very real possibility) it takes a while for people to realize your logged in. Simply logging in for a few minutes here and there becomes very impractical.

Like for example. I'm cooking dinner, playing some guild wars with my friends and keeping an eye on the forums while i'm doing both of those to help with potential issues that arise or cheater reports that may pop up. Which a lot of people also do, mostly while they are at school or work or what not and can find a few minutes to do this.

I didn't put any @ in the beginning of my reply, now did I?

But since you took it personally, I will spend my 2 minutes to reply to you. Stop browsing Excuses.com it's become old already. You got 5 minutes to browse the forums, to reply in a silly thread, you have 5 minutes to check your facebook, you have 5 minutes for this and for that. But yet, you have zero time to do something more helpful for this community.

If you say that you are so busy with your studies in order to do your duties as GM, but yet you got the free time to defend yourself. Girl, I'm not the only one who would tell you to stop reasoning and using the studies and the exams for not doing what you were hired for. In these 5 minutes you could try to solve players problems like other simple members of this community do, but yet.

We have been here, we heard these words again, we learnt how to move on.

I applied though since I am confident to be able to stay online for at least 14-18 hours/24 hours but I guess I am not qualified enough to be one :D.

Run! We have zombies among us.

The thread was for Siel, but seems it turned out wrong.

Well as for Siel, i'm available to stay 4-5 hours or a bit more online everyday, but looks like our time zone isn't the same.
We really do try our best to stay online and help how as much as possible, but as said, everyone have to attend to real life too.

Well lets use myself as an example shall we? I was an AMT on Siel for some time I was on everyday for 8 hours+ everyday and I never once got bored my activity only diminished when state exams kicked in so getting bored after a while really depends on the individual. As for only one AM needed to handle a population such as Lumiel's I agree I had to handle Siel's population quite often due to other staff members being innactive so I don't doubt one AM on Lumiel wouldn't be able to handle it, the only other staff member that actually did dedicate time to help players was Untouched. This also goes for what you mentioned about no one wanting to spend the "necessary" time to keep a player base happy simply because they don't get paid, yes you volunteer for the job might as well enjoy it instead of basically saying oh I don't get paid I shouldn't do more then I'm expected to do to keep the players happy, now I'm not saying you don't since I don't even know you nor how you do your job as an AM but that's exactly what your comment looked like.

As i said there. I give as much time as i can while maintaining my other responsibilities in life. I would like to belive that anyone who is currently an AM also does the same.

Never said you said that you weren't staying because you didn't get paid I said that's what your comment seemed like you should really read everything before making an assumption.

Look dude, there are people like you and me who put priorities in their life and act according to them. An online game, for me personally has been always the source of fun and pleasure. I would never stress myself out because I'm a GM in online community, this is the truth. But I would dedicate my time, to do my job whenever I have planned to do so. If I wouldn't be able, or if I would caught myself starting to look for reasons and/or excuses, then I would simply resign and move on.

Being realist, and knowing his/her capabilities is the greatest ability of a successful person. Hence, if you see that you can't handle the job that you were hired to do, don't waste the time, nor yours, nor this community's.
