Kay.. I'll try to make this as shosrt and Kind as possible, Since I'm not really raging at all about this.
It's just a thing that came into my head and Well .. I kinda have to express it since I don't really fancy keeping thigs for myself .___.

    Anyways ~

I've see that there are pretty much a few Signature contests and else. I really like them and all, And they also provide some fun and overall activity on the forums and also helps for instance a player ingame.
I'm aware this is not a design forum and it will never be, I'm not trying to make this a GFX Based forum nor anything like the sort btw ~

However. I got 2 complains about this.

1st: You should definetly make difference Between some tags.. Not everyone here knows what PS is and they're doing their best to make a good looking tag whereas some others with around 1 or perhaps 2 years of PS [Those so called "Moderate Division" on NSL] will obviously make better tags than Any novice since It's the rank that goes under Moderate, Which might lead to end up always picking the same 2 / 3 persons which actually have that level whereas the rest will just end up disappointed over that, Ofc I'm pretty sure noone will complain nor say anythign about it, I wasn't really going to But I'd really like to give Novce players or perhaps some early starters a chance to get a prize instead of getting nothing due to higher level Designers.

2nd: I'm actually loving those contests, Yet I don't join them for just one reason: [Once again] This is not a GFX Forum.. Which leads to ppl to judge what's more "shiny" in some way instead of looking to the concept, tag cleanliness and ofc everything else that involves making a decent tag.
I'm not here to brag about my skills since Most of you already think they suck and I'm not really saying anything about that, However my NSL [The forum where every single Pro artist has been into, for just calling some names [Blane, Blaziken180, Kire, Salzella or Allezlas, even HUMAC] rank is Currently "Pro Division" and I'm battling against some of the most decent taggers around, Which is really fun and makes you realise your fails in every single tag you make.
My point is.. That I really gave up posting tags here since I'm sure noone will realise each other's rank due to this not being a design forum u.u

I was a ranker in NSL crew once, And in this forum, You currently have 2 level of taggers: Novices and Moderates.

    Intermediate
    Semi-Pro
    Pro
are the ones following up next. Each one requires way better tags and ofc a lot more dedication on them.

I guess this kinda sounds as a QQ, But I'm just explaining the reason I don't really post tags in here anymore, not even for contests. Since I'm sure noone will check the Level of the tag itself, Which somehow makes me sad.. and happy at the same time u.u

And above all, This is to give the starters on this a chance to get a prize.. I think everyone would like to win.. But if you mix Moderate with Novce division, You'll always get the same result.. Moderate division winning over Novice.

    Well, in my opinions:
1 - yeah, it sounds like a QQ to me.
2 - This is not a design forum, and, at my point of view, you're trying to convince people to like your sign style
3 - All I can see from your post is "hey guys, i'm pro, i'm pro but you don't realize it. Please, say me i'm pro and give me all the price"
4 - The mother Internet is got a lot of tutorials. Just as in Aion or any other MMORPG, if you try hard and practice, you'll get better. Even the starters.
5 - And finally: It's easier to change the people way of judging or your way of producing signs?

This is definitely not an art forum BUT we got art sub-forum which makes the suggestion logical.

Yes, there should be two or even three levels of art contests for all PS skill levels. The current signature/ avatar events are nice but as Raz mentioned in her post, they are being quite unfair for some people who just do PS once in a while for the lolz of the fan, and not like a hobby.

This way there will be given equal chances to win to all players who wish to participate.

I'm going to give you my personal example here: I know how to draw and sketch on paper, I'm doing it for over half life now and it's pretty easy for me to participate in any comic/sketching art event. However, when it comes to the digital art, I'm like... 'erm, what is that again?' this is why I never take part in sign/avi events as it would take me x10 more time to make it on PC than what it would take me to make it on paper. Seeing the works of the others with the PS, it makes me just stay in the shadows and not take part as I cannot compete with the most in here. Yes, I'm a PS noob like those who girls who make one boob bigger than the other and feel happy xD

Not all people are good in PS because of many reasons and mine is that I prefer the old school way as I've grown up w it and I'm totally in love w it. So, why shouldn't I be given a chance to win as well?

Your chance has already been given, if you try to go out of the shadows you mentioned, and try just as hard as you tried to improve your drawings, you'll certainlly get skills and experience enough to participate on competitions. When i first started doing signatures, it was on a Ragnarok forum, and i really sucked at it. By now, six years later, i may not suck just as I did, but just because, in this way, I made almost 100 signs (finished and etc) and read a lot of tutorials, asked a lot of people how could i get better and tryied it. In the end, it is not about the one that knows more, but about the one that try hard until reach the level they want.

I make signatures, here and there. I am new to the forums but one quick glance over your guys works. I would never participate just cause i see a 0% chance of even being in the top 3 signatures. I ran a SOTW on the official FW forums

I've seen better GFXers on less populated game/server forums.

    I don't get this.

You quite happily admit that Gamez is a gaming community rather than a design one yet still want sig/avatar contests to have "skill brackets"

They're just weird little forum events to keep people entertained, it's not a big deal and personally I prefer some of the MSPaint jobs to a lot of the Photoshop work <: The idea is for people to have a bit of fun and it often ends up with some of the "better" Photoshop users giving tips to the less skilled, other than that it's just a laugh and something to do outside of the game.

"Skill" in signature/avatar design is subjective - it's not something you can measure and I personally have zero intent of attempting to do so. Although you're "not here to brag" I did count about seven sentences of well.. bragging pretty much o.o That's really nice and all but yeah.. no.

Seems pointless. Time for a lock before we all have to endure stories about how "pro" this and that person are.

P.S. I'm grateful for the lack of pink font but a wall of jumbletext in italics is difficult to read. Maybe my eyesight is getting worse =/
