Invisible Damage

So for the past couple months, I have had random instances in which I randomly dropped dead, scrolled back through my damage, and the numbers never added up to the proper damage dealt. I hadn't ever caught it on film before, but I did this time.

As you can see at 23 seconds, I have rip-claw strike, a flame cage, and a lockdown on me with 6601 hp left. Then suddenly and randomly, I drop dead. I scroll back through my combat chat log, and the most recent damage dealt to me was the 294 damage from the flame cage, which leaves a good 5-6k damage that wasn't calculated in.

So what exactly hit me that my combat text didn't pick up?

 

the damage isnt invisible, it does show in a pile on your screen, the problem is it did not get recorded, most likely due to the fact that u were getting hit really fast by 3 people at the same time

look shortly before you die, in that pile of damage (which is a mess by the way) you can see for example 1,270 very clearly which is not in the log. its not the only number that did not get recorded, the damage is there

 

I get zerged by a bunch of people, yet I always calculate in their weaves and skills that always add up to my hp, usually overkill since the afterskills.

I see what you mean by the 1270 damage seen clearly, I did some rapid pause stops on the original footage, but that still leaves my hp at 3,676 right before I drop dead.

 

If you got signet of silenced after the ripclaw it's most likely what killed you and didn't show, it hardly ever shows the damage done in the combat history. And the decision to take on 6+ ppl at once may have had something else to do with your very sudden demise.

 

well usually the last skill doesnt show up in the logs, especially high damage ones. this is a screenshot from the times of the deity where the guy flew in, insta killed 15 of us and flew out. no damage shown

I don't have problems with fighting against my odds, it's what I'm used to. I had to run in and fight because my pvp partner was stumbled silenced, it's not like I am just going to run off just to save my AP. Fighting that group wouldn't have been hard, I just needed to drop both the sorcs before they were able to start bursting us, and for some reason I randomly died right after I finished with them.

I have always been able to find the damage done in the combat logs, it's weird that it never got displayed. I don't know if it is a bug, or just simply the game not being able to process it, but I always like to see what kind of damage was being done so I know who to target and why.
