Gracias a su veteranía, Hotmail sigue siendo el primer servicio de correo electrónico con más de 325 millones de usuarios, aunque Gmail tiene un crecimiento mucho más robusto y ya supera los 298 millones de cuentas, mientras que el servicio de Yahoo! se sitúa como el tercero.
Microsoft quiere lavar la cara y unificar sus servicios de correo electrónico para lo que ha decidido echar mano de la marca Outlook y de una disposición de contenidos mucho más sencilla y limpia, lo que permitirá una consulta más directa de los mensajes.
Además, el nuevo Outlook integra plataformas de redes sociales como Facebook, Twitter o Skype.
Asimismo, el nuevo Outlook se sirve de los contenidos compartidos en la llamada nube de internet, algo que ya ha integrado Gmail, un servicio al que Microsoft ahora quiere hacer frente.
