i got a 90-day evaluation copy of windows 8 enterprise form microsoft's website, i started aion, entered my username/pass, then clicked on accept and then an error pops up saying: "no game server is available on the authorization server (6)" ... but on the other hand i can play on retail just fine... please help me :S

here are the thing that i've tried so don't suggest them: repair client, re-download gamez launcher, start the game with the .bat launcher ...

also don't tell me the windows version is no final, its still beta or something like that... don't let the evaluation fool you, the windows i'm running is fully working final version, just licensed for 90-days :D ...

    thanks in advance :)

Did you check if the Gamez launcher installed in the right folder?

Edit: You might want to contact the retail Aion and ask them if the game supports w8.

i suppose the game supports windows 8 since, as i clearly stated in my first post, i can log in and play on the retail NA aion just fine ... and actually i don't see where the problem might be ... the fact that i'm logging in indicates that the client makes connection to the login server, but for some reason cannot retrieve the game servers list ...

ps: i've tried to make an aion.exe file from aion.bin and added the following extra attributes to it:
    -ip:69.167.179.118 -port:2106 -lang:enu -cc:1 -noweb -noauthgg -ng -ingameshop
also i've checked to run in compatibility mode for windows 7, checked to run always as administrator and added an exception in windows firewall for both private and public... didn't work... i got the same error :S

if ur logging into retail, make sure u have d3d8thk.dll in ur aion\bin32 folder, coz private servers need that. without that u would also get that msg

the bat launcher no longer works coz they started rotating IPs here, every hour i believe while the bat launcher only has 1 IP to use

make sure ur not using the cheap trick of swapping bin32 with bin64 to use the 64bit client. 64bit clients dont work with private servers coz d3d8thk.dll is only in 32bit, it wont load otherwise

i heard quite a few issues with win 8 not loading the items.pak be4, not related to this case of course but still, not sure what to think of win8 just yet. so far just hearing bout compatibility issues with programs/drivers

could you upload that d3d8thk.dll pls :) i hope it fixes that issue, because i really think it is only for private servers because i've tried to log in at other private servers and i got the same error :S

but actually i'm using the same bin32 folder which i used in win7... there i played just fine :S

your launcher is supposed to download that file for you btw. did you check to see if you have it? i know vista/win7 had issues with user account control, preventing access to program files so the launcher couldnt download it etc.

if u really dont have it, try right click the launcher and run it as administrator. the really old gamez launcher didnt have the updater, so u can try get the new one from the website

u can dig the dll out of another launcher i uploaded here
    AionWarz bat launcher.rar

dont extract it to ur aion folder coz it has another servers launcher in it, but dig the dll out of it and put it in ur bin32 folder

just out of curiosity, did u try set the launcher to win 7 or older compatibility mode? see if that lets u load it

also is this the exact same client u played with fine on win7?

ok did a lot of googling, apparently u can fix it by replacing game.dll in ur bin32 folder otherwise it wont run on win8, this should be the one
    http://www.zonant.com/game.dll

i suggest u backup the original and try it out

edit: i see u went off :p well theres 1 more thing. i noticed from the time this file was posted that its for a little older version of aion. judging by the fact that u play on retail im guessing ur client is 3.0.0.8. if u get errors from changing this file alone, i suggest u apply the downgrade (which fixes the group bug anyway since gamez is somewhere between 3.0.0.1 and 3.0.0.4), try login and if it doesnt work then add the game.dll to the downgraded client.
    http://forum.gameznetwork.com/f64/[guide]-downgrade-3-0-0-7-3-0-0-4-a-130845/

the thread i found the dll in is here
    http://board.en.aionfreetoplay.com/...-8-users-a-small-update-concerning-the-issue/

good luck, let me know if it works

the game crashesh when i start it with that game.dll :S i had downgraded before, i played on retail by simply changing the version in version.ini so that the ncsoft launcher can't detect that i'm with a downgraded client and update :) but i think the solution really is reverting back to windows 7 :S i really like windows 8 because it works faster and smoother but unfortunately i need to wait until the private servers support it ^^
@Smartik1 thank you very much for your help, I really appreciate it :)
