But keep in mind that the athletes have to pay tons of taxes while the military people get combat pay. That has to count for something.

 

Dude, NBA, NFL, and NHL players have to take care of their families. You have to keep that in mind...

But in all seriousness, the lockouts are more on the owners. They want more control and more money from the game. For example, in football, they wanted to increase the amount of games in the regular season. This means very little in terms of overall picture, but it would be HORRIBLE for the health of players. In the NBA, the owners wanted to make sure small market teams can still compete (a noble goal). They lost because big market teams still create super teams and players still hold teams hostage (Lakers). No clue about hockey, I'm not a fan at all.
