Unfair!!!!

To all who executed this insane taking out of GUARDIAN COMMANDER items are very RUDE! AND UNFAIR!

1. YOU ACTIVATED THE QUEST FOR MITHRIL MEDALS
2. YOUR LET THE GUARDIAN COMMANDER ITEMS AVAILABLE IN THE NPC`S
3. WE USE OUR TIME, EFFORT, ABYSS TO GET THIS ITEMS
4. NOW SOME OF US ARE ALREADY USING CRAP ITEMS BECAUSE OUR PREVIOUS ITEMS ARE ALREADY BEEN TRADED TO OTHERS

And now you will just take all of it with out even bringing back our AP? this is very unfair its like you didn`t respect the privacy of the players.

In the first place, you ADMINS or the one who is responsible in the system should have not activated this MITHRIL QUEST AND MEDALS and its better your people do roll back than suddenly taking away those items.

yes that's true, we understand that this is a private server, so they need to take those out, so that players will do donations to have batter gear or vote daily for the benefits of their server, but its really unfair, if they have just return the Abbys and the medals, that would be just fine.

 

Yes, because its fair for you to get away scotch free for abusing NPCs.

If it was up to me I'd have permanently banned anyone abusing it. I think you got off easy.

 

I understand that you're irritated but those NPCs were never intended to be functioning in that manner. It's common knowledge that top tier PvP gear isn't supposed to be obtainable in-game. You've been here since 2011 - there's no way that you were unaware of that.

Frankly, the fact that no one reported it in the first place when people were acquiring said items is a shame. Seeing how Guardian Eternal have never been available.

While, the actions of some people caused us to remove npcs prior to them getting a correct fix, which happened twice now. That also took out the chance for those who were able to purchase the fabled (yellow) sets for a period of time.

How is that fair to them when others decided it would be neat to abuse an NPC and not report it as soon as they realized that it was broken.

Like Vil said, your lucky you weren't perm banned for the abuse, I would have issue perms as well. Be thankful Alente / Carl were nice enough to simply remove the items themselves.

 

Hi there, nice to meet you - I'm Alente. Sadly your angry capslock rant is directed at me so I shall endeavor to respond =p

Now as you've pointed out yes we did remove all GCD items from the game, I imagine the reasons for this are pretty obvious but you seem surprised so perhaps not - forgive the wall of text but I shall explain our reasoning for this as transparently as possible.

GCD is the Elyos equivalent of ACD, the current end-tier gear from the cash shop.

Due to the fact that we are indeed a private server with upkeep costs to pay we make certain content available solely through the cash shop, this is usually PvP gear and random nicknacks like mounts & costumes (though a few of the mounts are actually obtainable ingame, some aren't which is due to NCSoft's design not us for once - go figure)

But I digress! The reason these items are exclusively available through the cash shop is to provide incentive for members of the community to donate, if items like ACD could be obtained ingame (with our ridiculously high rates) this would result in people having little incentive to donate and could easily threaten our longevity - this has already been proven in recent history with the recent shutdown of some of our rival Aion servers. While in the perfect world everyone would donate out of the kindness of their hearts we sadly have to confront the fact that people will donate because it provides them with a tangible advantage in-game, that's just how the world works. It's also worth noting that when we make these high quality items available ingame people can and will always find exploits to obtain them unfairly, hell a new Crucible exploit was discovered after the last patch and has resulted in me taking down the PvE Crucible gates yet again. People are opportunistic, sad but true.

It's a simple fact that we need donations to continue making Gamez available this is something we have to bear in mind when shaping the game.

GCD should never have been available from those vendors, this was an error on our part and I take responsibility for that. We dropped the ball - simple. Having said that we simply cannot ignore the fact that unintentionally making those items available had devalued the donations people have made to our server for ACD and was simply not fair to our donators. It's also worth noting that over 90% of the items purchased were left on Elyos characters, as expected from an Elyos vendor, however that is hardly what I'd call fair to the other faction.

The error had to be addressed and the items were subsequently removed from the server. In hindsight we could have considered returning the Mithril Medals spent on those items, sadly this is no longer possible as all records of those items have been purged. I apologize for that lack of foresight on my part however it is too late to do anything about it now - even if some people with GCD took screenshots I would not consider reimbursement now, either everyone gets reimbursed or no one does. Anything else is unfair.

To my understanding Mithrils can still be used on gold items which is something we haven't even looked at - though I can say quite confidently that we have no plans on deleting any gold items purchased from those particular vendors.

So yes, those who purchased GCD were using the vendors in a way we did not intend and for that we have removed the items to address this. Having said that we have failed you all by allowing that to be possible which is why no accounts have been punished as a result of this oversight.

It's unfortunate this happened and luckily very few players actually purchased the items however it did happen. We have dealt with the issue as best as we could at the time but I will concede it could have been dealt with better. Dwelling on spilt milk is pointless though.
