So this has been happening to me for a while now - when not much is going on my ping is around 90 but as soon as I jump into something more lively my ping will jump up to 120 - 150.

Not sure why this happens but is there anything that can be done about it? I've tested this with both WTFast and BattlePing and it occurs in both. I've also tried reducing my graphics settings and this has made no impact either.

    Any ideas?

graphics dont impact ping. also just running alone increases ur ping if u ever checked :p it doesnt have much to do with combat, its more like with user input u r transferring more data to the server (and back), with more data there is a bigger delay

either way its not that significant overall

well I've noticed that the server is significantly slower, no more lag when zerg pvp or something he moved to the server after the server DDoS am extremely slow, my average ping was 120-150 now is between 499-700

get an SSD drive and you'll have a less difficult moment in pvp trust me.

Yeah I figured the graphics thing wouldn't help but thought I'd try anyway. Nevertheless, the higher latency and spikes are noticeable and bothersome.

Seems like a server bandwidth issue if transferring data causes a slowdown from simply moving around though. I don't think it's a client issue since I only have the issue with Gamezaion and my download/upload speed is 35/6 Mbps.

And yeah, the game is on an SSD but that won't affect pings. That's more for load times and texture pop-in issues which is not my issue.

but hey! they are worth every penny, I mean textures load so fast and everything is way different than a common HD.

Your lag is the result of your CPU being overburdened. Your CPU is what sends the packets to the server and once it's congested, your packets will take longer to get sent.

Two ways around this: get a gaming NIC card or upgrade your CPU and overclock it.

SSD's are actually pretty cheap nowadays, around 1$ per GB. Spend 120$ and you get a SSD with 120GB + 550MB/s read&write.

I have an i7 2600K OC'd to 4.6Ghz. I don't think that's the culprit. I have GTX 580 as well so I don't think my problem stems from a lack of computing power. The issue seems to only occur with Aion/Gamez - I don't have the issue with any other game.
