    Hello there,

This is a guide on pvp and gladiator skills/ combos.

It's not perfect, but it might help some new players.

    An overview:

    Part:

    I. //Givemissingskills, stigmas, and what the heck they mean

    II. "The Armory"

    III. "The Godstone"

    IV. "The Combo"

    V. PVP Styles, finding your method, and putting it all together

    VI. Pwn, pwn, pwn
    __________________________________________

    I) //Givemissingskills, stigmas, and what the heck they mean

First off, you need to make sure you have stigmas. Stigmas include everything from Improved Stamina I to Sure Strike. The stigmas are the Gladiator's most essential skills and must be learned ASAP! To learn these stigmas gamezaion provides an easy shortcut by typing the command //givemissingskills. Before anything, make sure you have all your possible stigmas.

*HINT*: Use Improved stamina and Second Wind I for a quick heal!

    II) "The armory"

Gladiators are one of the most versatile class types. They can equip:

    *= Reccommended for gladiators.

    Bows - Long range

*Swords- Close range + Shield- Defense

    Greatswords- Average range

    *Spears- Long range

    Maces- Close range

    Daggers- Close range

Remember that starting from level 21, Gladiators can use the dual wield skill, meaning that one- handed weapons can be held in either hand, allowing a gladiator to use two one- handed maces or swords.

Mastery of weapon types and when to use them are essential. The basics are thus.

Bows: Bad for gladiators unless ranged attacks are unavailible. Before dueling a ranger try pressing shift+ Z key to equip a bow and arrows. When equipping arrows, a good amount is 200.

Swords: Never use a sword without a shield unless you are a ninja, drunk or otherwise trying to look cool. The main purpose of a one handed sword is for the attack, rapid speeds and combos, which will be covered in part IV. A good strategy against other melee classes is to augment a one handed sword and dagger with a godstone. Using two one handed swords or daggers with dual godstones effectively doubles the percentage of blind, silence, etc. Godstones are covered in section III.

Greatswords: A greatsword has an average attack speed of 2.4, compared to 2.8 with a spear and 2.2-3 with a one handed sword. This means that you get both speed and damage per second (DPS) increase that isn't too slow, but it significantly weaker than a spear, therefore it is shunned by many gladiators and is not reccommended for a Damage Per Second type build.

Spears: The traditional weapon of choice for many gladiators. Most often, gladiators will choose a burst- style pvp method, discussed in section V. The spear is valued in on- the- fly battles where range, burst DPS (Damage Per Second) and endurance is key. This is true especially in the abyss, a PvP zone. The spear has a good range that can hit those tricky, out of reach rangers, sorcerers, spiritmasters or other ranged class types. It deals a heavy damage unrivalled by any other type of weapon however is slower to hit. This will be undone by an attack speed scroll, availible for crafting or to purchase in a trade broker.
    (Items -> consumables-> scrolls.)

Daggers: Much like the one- handed sword, daggers are good for combining godstones, discussed in section III, combo speeds (section IV) and chain attacks. they are close range and lack a large DPS (Damage Per Second) relished by many gladiators. They are best used with a One- handed sword, and held in the off- hand due to their poor DPS.

Note that not many gladiators use this method unless they are relying on blinding the opponent. Some use a 55 PvP dirk with a one handed sword to inflict damage rapidly and with a greater chance to blind.

    ***Note***

When holding a dagger in the off-hand, only the attributes of the sword in the main hand is retained.

    What does this mean?

It means that if you hold a dagger in the main hand, youll do LESS damage overall than with a dagger in the off- hand, as well as your stats of the one- handed sword which should be in the main hand.

Maces: Also like the one- handed sword, they have a decent damage per second as well as the ability to combine godstones. They are not as fast as the one- handed sword, but have a slightly greater damage output. They are not reccommended for gladiators because of the low DPS and slow strikes, and has become a weapon avoided by non- clerics/ chanters.

    III. "The Godstone"

A godstone is critical to any successful PvP gladiator's arsenal. Let's start with the basics.

    What is a godstone?

A godstone is a curious augment that can be slotted ONE per weapon. They posess various abilities such as inflicting greater damage upon a chance to hit, blind, etc. below are the possible effects.

Note that not all of the following godstones work on Gamezaion servers.

    *= Working on Gamezaion

    Strength: Temporarily boosts physical attack.

*Fire: Inflicts additional fire damage ***with 2-10% probability, depending on the godstone.

*Wind: Inflicts additional wind damage ***

*Water: Inflicts additional water damage ***

Earth: Inflicts additional earth damage ***

Stun: Stuns the target for 5-10 seconds with 2-10% probability

*Blind: Renders the target unable to hit, therefore inflict damage for 5-10 seconds with 2-10% probability

Root: Renders the target unable to move for 5-10 seconds with 2-10% probability

*Silence: Renders the target unable to skill, therefore inflict damage for 5-10 seconds with 2-10% probability

*Paralysis: Puts the target in an Aether's Hold state for 5-10 seconds with 2-10% probability

Bleed: Inflicts DOT (Damage over Time) damage over 5- 20 seconds with 2-10% probability

    Snare: See Root.

    Poison: See Bleed.

Decrease Attack Speed: Slows a target's attack speed for 5-20 seconds with 2-10% probability.
    _____________________________________________
Here we have a huge long list, what does it all mean?

First off, there are here a variety of spectacular abilities and effects that can enhance a weapon's performance. (Insert witty viagra joke here.) Obviously, only one of these effects can be used on a weapon at a time, so choosing a godstone is no easy task.

Oh shoot, I used a godstone and now want another effect, how do I take it off?

You can't. However, you can take a new godstone you like better or suits your play stylesimply by augmenting over the old one.

So what works best for gladiators?

It depends on what class you are fighting. The main preferrence is thus:

    Melee v.s. Melee = Blind

    Melee v.s. Ranged = Root/ Silence.

Obviously, the higher quality the godstone the longer it lasts, and the more powerful the effect and percentage chance that the effect will occur.

The reason gladiators need blind with another melee class is because of the damage per second. If another gladiator is fighting you in a set position, you will not need to bind him/ her in order to fight. Rather, you need to take less damage yourself and inflict more on the opponent. Therefore, blind works best to negate damage for 5-10 seconds, giving you the advantage.

Gladiators need root or silence on spellcasters or rangers because the choice play style of those classes is kiting, or running around like a chicken with it's head cut off and spray arrows and random magic turds all over sanctum. This will help you to immobilize, chip away, or negate the ranged damage while still keeping pace with a moving target.

    IV. "The Combo"

Now that we know how to build a kick- arse weapon, how do we use it? Obviously a good gladiator needs experience on his back, but how do you gain that extra edge?

    Here is the answer.

Each skill has an additional effect. Lockdown will be our bread- and- butter center skill here. Lockdown silences a target for 3s and is what I personally use at the start of any fight, duel or RvR ( Race v.s. Race.) It gives you a 3 second edge to stun lock, knock down, or drain health.
    ___________________________________________

A combo can allow you to finish a fight quickly and effectively, and sometimes make you look even better by letting you take no damage whatsoever. By combining the effects from these various skills, you can create a chain of effects to stun, knock down, root, bind, silence, and otherwise pwn your opponent to victory.

    *Hint*

Try using lockdown to cancel a powerful skill, such as precision cut, sure strike (Gladiators) or even Inferno (Sorcerers.)

When timed properly, the opponent will be completely unable to move throughout the entire sequence. Press K and inspect your skills carefully. You will be surprised how they all fit together.

    V. Pvp styles, finding your method, and putting it all together

Now we know the basics of gladiators, hopefully. With the above information, only time can teach you what works best for your play style, but overall there are three basic play styles that Gladiators use.

    *= Recommended for gladiators

*Burst- Low health, low defense, High DPS

Endurance- High health, High defense, Low DPS (Only used when fighting high DPS opponents or in PvE boss fights.)

Balanced- Moderate health, Moderate defense, Moderate DPS

Block- Uses block, evasion, or parry manastones to evade damage.

Time will tell which works best for you. Manastones can help with these play styles.

    Manastones and their effects

Critical Strike: This is the fundamental manastone that most gladiators and pvpers should use. It raises your overall damage significantly, by ensuring that most hits are critical strikes. The crit rate, shown in a player's profile (P) should stop at around 450-500. This is because of the "soft cap."

The soft cap is the point in which crit rate levels off, and every +10 critical strike only adds 1% to critical.

Attack: Attack manastones should be socketed after critical strike has been capped at soft cap. Attack adds overall damage to a gladiator's attack.

Block, evasion, and parry: These manastones are best used with a shield. Here's why. A shield adds block rate and damage reduction. If your play style is to take as little damage as possible and block often, this socket added to a shield will allow you to block more often than if you socketed a spear, or piece of armor.

Magic Resist: This manastone is best for fighting sorcerers or spiritmasters. Heavy damage inflicted by magic classes can be hard to avoid, so these manastones help lessen the blows taken. However, a full magic resist is not recommended due to the other melee classes you will encounter.

Health: Some gladiators use health sockets to increase their overall HP, or Hit Points. This increases the amount of damage they can take without dying, and works for some gladiators such as Cutegladiator, who uses a defense- type style. This is only used with a parry/block type style, unless your goal is to inflict as much damage as possible, and take all the hits while still surviving.

    VI. Pwn, pwn, pwn

There is no set way to kill asmodians, win duels, or show off a fighting style. This is only the basic methods used by most gladiators. If this helped you, please press thanks at the bottom of this message.

ANY NEGATIVE FEEDBACK PLEASE SEND IN A PM,

DO NOT RATE THIS THREAD. THIS IS ONLY A GUIDE TO HELP NEW PLAYERS, NOT A BESTSELLING NOVEL.

    Thanks.

Greatswords are shit compared to spears when it comes to gladiators. Spears do more damage, longer ranger, and better overall. Never use a dagger as a gladiator, it's just plain dumb. Your combo isn't well built, I can easily get through that. Some godstones over there don't work on this server. Combos are just dumb, you have to improvise while fighting.

    Overall 4.5/10

hmm...5/10...combo sucks some godstones dont work on the srv...
ur combo is NOT made for spear fighting its made for sword/dagger sword/sword fight (sword/sword is broke...so better use a dagger...)

my combo for spear fight is...

    10m minimum distance to target
    ankle snare
    -piercing rupture
    -cleave combo
-if he also used ankle after it wears out use leaping asault then lockdown (if he cast ankle after u use strenghten wings if u cast before him dont use it)
    -aerial lockdown
    -sure strike
-crushing blow -draining blow- -cripling cut- (try making both in same knockdown yes it is possible)
    -sharp strike combo

    -glad vs glad-

at glad vs ranger equip a shield and a sword

    -leaping smash
-after he uses his stun and sleep- use ankle snare then charge and use a quick aerial on him
    -final blow
-the yellow thingy...dont remember the name that removed aerial from oponent
-crushing blow- -draining blow- -cripling cut-
    -lockdown
    -tendon slice
    -first sharp strike attack
-cleave combo (he will surely run after he gets out of tendon slice)

if he doesnt run just complete the sharp strike combo

    -glad vs ranger-

this is all i spare i wont tell anything else :D

IMO, its just as bad as your guide.

@OP, You did not discuss manastones at all. You did not discuss gear names, or anything in fact. You can't use a ground pvp combo on everything.

First off, GS are generally better than spears, except when armsfusion works. Once it does, an ice black+50 elite pvp spear trumps a Trioran/Lannok GS + 50 elite pvp GS. So yes, I would somehow try to get a elite pvp sear lv 50 in advance. Once you get this combo of weps, and armsfusion works (IT DOES NOT RIGHT NOW), you could just snare a templar, gladi, chanter, or sin, and enjoy 10 seconds of amazing DPS. Yes, a gladi with extendables is pure sexiness and is in god mode.

Secondly, manastones. The best set you want is 55 chain socketed with mresist and crit. However, chances are you won't be able to get it. Then, whichever set you use, use crit+ hp. Crit RnG is bugged currently, I'd get around 400 and use food for the rest. Once its fixed, you may need to add more to make up for strike resist. At 400, you are looking at 20% crit rate (ON THIS RNG) and with food, its a bit above 25%. So crit + mresist is best but only in 55 elite chain, otherwise use crit + Hp. ONLY DO CRIT+MRESIST ON 55 CHAIN, ANYTHING ELSE USE CRIT+HP

Thirdly, Sword and shield. Many gladiators forget about this secondary set. Matter of fact is, its very very useful vs rangers and can be used against sins and chanters also, although once UD works, its not necessary. Right when you log in, switch to this set, and pop up shield defense. Then, whenever you need to use it (i.e. a solo ranger) switch over to shield and def prep ASAP. Howl it out, and rangers will loose a lot of burst. Best shield to use is an elite pvp shield. The higher the level, the better. Until you get one, use taha. For weapon, taha sword is good enough unless you can get a pvp sword or a master carved one (if they are ever added).

Fourthly, combos. Each combo will vary vs different classs. If u are in the chain set, most casters will be much easier now. For rangers, the sword shield set takes care of damage. Otherwise, just try to keep them incapitated as long as possible. Lockdown is crucial, and do not forget your healing skills. Survivability adds a whole lot to your gladi. You have two different types of roots, and one skill that closes distance. This should make it hard to kite you if you time using the snare+leaping smash, exactly right. Then, once snare is almost done, and if somehow the guy is not dead, tendon slice him to keep him there. Never get stuck to the same combo ever, it can end up being devastating.

I understand, but unfortunately, pvp on retail and on p servers is extremely different. For one, you don't have any ground pvp here.
