[Suggestion] GFX Team

Hey guys!

I see a lot of people with talent and potential here when it comes to graphic designing (GFX). I noticed that this forums apparently has a few GFX'ers who are active and I see a lot of people requesting for signatures and avatars, and there a lot of GFX'ers gifting sigs too. Maybe if the forum had a team of knowledgeable designer's maybe a lot of people would be inspired to do works too.

Well, I was kinda suggesting an official GFX team for the forums. Why?

First of, the GFX team would be ofcourse a voluntary work, no salaries or w/e.

Second, the GFX team would be a great help for those people active in forums, of course who wouldn't want bad-ass signatures and awesome avatars right? With these stuff I would be more active posting and reading the forums. The GFX team can provide those cause primarily that's their job for the COMMUNITY.

Third, the GFX team would also be a great help for the staff/senior staff council too. Instead of just plainly typing events and other informations, GFX team can make that more awesome and better. Example?



Here are some event posters I've made for a specific Ragnarok server I used to work with as Head GFX. Of course who wouldn't want to join an awesome event like that?

Also GFX team could also help with forum, in-game lay out designs like forum templates, forum headers, forum tags, loading screens and etc.


Then last but not the least, the GFX team would be a great inspiration for those other GFX designers to strive more. I know that this forums was not made for graphic designing but it already holds part of it and it would be waste of talent if it wasn't used to its potential. There are lots of people with talent for GFX designing and it would be better to use it for the community.


Anyway, entirely I'm not hoping that you guys would actually take the time to read this. Since this suggestion is mostly just a showcase of my works then please forgive me. I used to work as a GFX designer on other servers on different online games too. I also took the time to actually join tournaments on main GFX sites. If ever you may question my works here's my dA on deviant Art but this account is already inactive: hollowproductions's deviantART gallery and yes I am Hollow productions. From other GFX sites or game forums my name would vary from Aizen, Kiel, Hollow, Jenova, Demigod and etc. just in case some may accuse me of ripping other peoples works.

This is a good idea and I don't think I disagree with it. I've been to a lot of community and most of them have GFX Team and Section but here's what I think.

You said it yourself that in this forum we got plenty of talented graphic designers who despite of not having a tag/position/rewards still answers to requests because they enjoy doing them and they like doing them. They do the requests on their own accord, on their own pace and time. But being a Staff member or to be in such a Team, it will become their responsibility and I am sure the requests will come more than it used to because of the idea people will get for having them - "It's their job! They have to do it.". Also the pressure it will give to those good Samaritans. From "doing it because they want to" it will become "doing it because I have to". And you know that when you feel pressured, you cannot enjoy what you're doing. So I think it is fine as it is.

This is just what I think and I only speak for myself and not to anybody else.

Good luck to your suggestion, though.

PS: I think I know you. Jenova sounds familiar, think I saw it in a particular community. Hollow Production? Reminds me of NB aka Sachimaru and his trolling videos... *Hint*

To be honest, I don't know what you're talking about the trolling videos *sarcasm* I'm guessing you're one of MerarAra's goons or prolly one of those dudes included (Not saying they were) in the said videos or did you just happen to play ZMU during that time?

 

This is rich, what are the chances of actually bumping into you? I'm guessing you actually bought freakin' English lessons since your english actually improved (prolly the only compliment you both got from me). So where's your wife? I mean your cyber-husband or husband or w/e.

And just out of curiosity, what makes you think I wouldn't do the same as what I did before? Since this forums is a vBulleting skeleton 4.2.0 which isn't any different from the old one before. Not that I'm planning to, just asking. Hahaha!!!1!1!one11!!

 

No, just no. We've had lots of people on the forums come and go for years now that have been interested in doing GFX related things. People want signatures? There's a thread for that, people want art done? They ask others. The community is more than helpful when it comes to anything GFX related and all it takes is some kindness and asking what you want.

Hell, even staff has made posts to ask for people to make things like banners or launchers, and they make an event out of it, giving the winners prizes.

At one point we even did have a "GFX team" but it was absolutely pointless, to my knowledge accomplished nothing and didn't even last long. The only reason I see for having one is to give out free colorful names, which I do not agree with.

I'm sorry to offend or anything, but really the only intent I see in your post is to post a resume for yourself to try to get a staff position, anyone who spends any minor amount of time on these forums knows that GFX related work is a daily part of these forums, there's always someone creating something, especially Nyusagi who does an amazing job every day making something new, and she has never once asked for a staff related position for her artwork because its entirely voluntary and requires no kind of special privileges on the side of the forums to do. There is really absolutely no reason for someone doing GFX to have a staff privilege, if anything they could implement a medal or something to those who regularly help others with signatures or whatever else, but beyond that its just overkill for something that most people do just because they want to.

Unnecessary. There are already people doing that at their own pace with no pressure. It is ok like that.

 

1. If you think that the GFX team only does people's signatures and whatever, then you got it wrong. I only indicated the ideology of that in this suggestion cause its prolly the only think other people may understand. The term isn't just limited to adobe photoshop if that's what you're thinking
2. I wasn't asking for the team to be staff members or any "privileges" (which you've indicated twice). The GFX team could still work even with member forum tags, right?

w/e would prolly include your "staff-privileges"
3. If I wanted to apply for a position then I would have done an application,(which I already did) not to waste my time making this.

I wonder if you think that making such, remarks will get you anywhere on your application which I did happen to bother reading, and simply was full of itself.

Please, do remove all graphics from this post that contain names of other servers and or links outside of GamezAion.com GamezMu.com GamezTera.com and GamezNetwork.com. Also, remove all mention of any other Private servers from any and all of yours posts.

Oh, and Picking fights with a community to which you wish to try and moderate?

Statements such as this also are well. Somewhat foolish don't you think? Never-mind the fact that your Mod post, made me laugh sitting here when I did get the chance to go over it.

First let me say that I like certain aspects of the idea proposed. I think it has room for a lot of potential. I can see a "Graphics Design Club" where nubs and pro's can join and learn from each other and motivate each other and contribute positively to the community... that being said.. Here's where I think things went wrong:

You are probably used to a certain position of relevance/importance/etc (as you said you were head of some other GFX team) and clearly wanted to duplicate a similar feeling here (as illustrated by this thread, + request for some sort of forum tags and a subsequent staff application). I think the problem is, you walked in the door and before your shoes were off, you started proposing changes without getting a feel for, or understanding and appreciating the "system" that is already in place. For example Puddles stated that they already have a graphic developer: Nyusagi. Wouldn't it have been better to discuss your idea with that person, and then come here with their support? It would have shown forethought and added a lot more strength and credibility to the thread.

Another area i feel that you misstepped is the subtle but unmistakable (for lack of a better word) douchebaggery that seems to be intertwined in your posts. I'm not pointing these out as an attack at you, but instead as a possible explanation why there was a lack of support behind you. Examples of aforementioned douchebaggery include (but not limited to):
1. Feeling entitled to comment on someone else's language skills.. i thought your post "complimenting" Uehara was quite rude.
2. Bumping up the "effort" of your own post. twice.. .. It seems a little desperate to literally state "look at the effort i'm putting in"
4. Laughing at your own jokes (did you see how i skipped 3? LOL aren't i really funny? someone please acknowledge i'm funny)
5. He he he!!1!11!!one!1! and also Hahaha!!!1!1!one11!!... 2 more cries for attention.. yes we get it.. satirical commentary on people that type !!11!!1!!!...

All these things come across as childish and not someone I personally would trust in a position of authority. While it's clear that you are intelligent and have a good sense of humor (witty/sarcastic/outsidethebox).. it comes across as very abrasive. It's great you think extremely highly of yourself but it comes across more as disrespectful towards others, especially since there is an undertone of someone looking for approval..... but i'm probably totally wrong.

Anyway I hope you stick around and contribute to the community, but I strongly suspect that if your staff application is rejected, and you don't get forum tags your ego will necessitate that you head to another server and try for some authority there. If that's the case best of luck and I hope you see this post as constructively critical.. and NOT me calling you an immature, arrogant, self-centered douche with an inferiority complex.

ps. feel free to rag on me and my post mimicking aspects of my style.. i wouldn't mind in the least.

 

If you're good at graphics, people will acknowledge you. The only usable perk I could think of from having a rank for designers is to have a hidden board where they can talk to each other...

 

Ps: I never said a word, that i am the best. I know we still have to learn a lot, and that there are people skillful than me \^o^/

Of course I would write about an application about myself and eventually it would be full of itself since it is the purpose of writting it in the first place, I wouldn't write an application for someone else which would be full of something else. See the sarcasm? (I've used it 4x for the sake of redundancy)

and just when everyone though that everyone follows your rules but uhh doh? not even your staff or even yourself couldn't follow. Hint: (Its a rule written in your forum rule, obviously). The irony of it is you guys already made the rules and since you're already where you are you sure be aware right? but I'm pretty sure you couldn't determine which. If you happen to realize which one come back to me then tell me that you guys are actually doing your jobs. Btw, there's a really big difference "picking a fight" from practicing your freedom of speech (Forums; meaning source:dictionary). Me and your "trainee" had a past which you don't know and we were just talking about it.

Oh, and your "trainee" didn't feel offended and since no one else did I wonder who I'm picking a fight with. And, yes I am hungry.
