Not to spark any sorts of debate here but I'm just curious. I'd like to ask those who are/were able to have both cats and dogs, which is mostly easier to take care of (lesser demands on grooming (which gives off a worse smell, easier to bathe), feeding (which is more expensive dog or cat food, and which is more versatile on foods), environment (which of them loves to sleep in a bed, air conditioned room), which is quieter and causes less clatter at home, etc.)? I understand that both are pets and animals and instincts are the same but I'd like to know from your experience as to which needs more attention (I know both need the needed attention but I'm asking for the more). All the friends I know only stick to one pet so I never had the chance to ask them these things.

I never had any chance to have a pet at home so I don't know these kinds of things.

I would say cats definetely. Although, I prefer dogs over cats, but you don't need to walk cats, they can go outside but it's not necessary. Just do it in a litterbox and that's it. I also calculated over my dog and cat food and I would say that my dog eats alot more so it costs more, but meh.

Cats are much cleaner, then dogs because cats tend to lick/clean there fur alot and there tongue is built specialty for that so they don't smell like a dog. Cats tend to be more quiet also as for dogs tend to bark and there pretty hyper/active 24.7 as for cats there more relaxed and spend most time sleeping through the day but not always and being mostly active at night there very nocturnal animals and got 10x better night vision then dogs as for dogs they sleep at night as humans. Cats also tend to bury there waste/pee after the toilet as for dogs they just leave it there and sometimes eat it.

As for the food there pretty similar, but if you got a big deal you need bigger quality of dog foods which cost more then cat food seen as all cats are decently small.
Cats sleep in beds and so do dogs and my cat loves air condition I'm sure some dogs won't mind seen as they got fur to keep them warm.
Note: Dogs tend to lose more fur then cats so your bed will mostly likely have alot of fur and will probably smell like dog if you don't bath your dog with condition every 2 weeks or so.

As for attention dogs seem to like more attention then cats.

Cats also have a ability under there paws an oil-like substance that go's on the ground as is used a sense tracker as cats travel, so In other words you cat can leave your house and can find it way back quiet easily as for if dog leaves your yard they will most likely be lost and can't find there way home.

Cats also have better escape skills then dogs, so if they are ever in a bad state they can easily escape it because they can jump very high and land on the feet from high lengths and there claws are great for climbing fences.

As for dogs they can't really escape unless they run or try and defend them self.

So if you let your cat outside ( I do ) they will pretty much never get hurt because of there agility/speed.
Also if you got any roaches or rats/mices cats are the best at taking care of them in your house. ;)

Note: cats tend to be more shy then dogs with strangers they will most likely hide if they don't know the person as for dogs there not very shy at all. In other words you can go for a walk with your dog on a leach anywhere, but with a cat you can't because they aren't comfortable around strangers.

Very interesting information guys :D I never considered adopting a cat but now I guess I do. Thank you very much!!

In addition: Cat/s and dog/s in the same house, good or not?!

Wow! Your cat's fur seems really soft! :D

Depends on the sizes and if your dog is aggressive or not.

It's best to get a cat/dog when there just a kitten and puppy so they get use to each other as there babies and grow up.

But other then that yes you can have a dog/cat in the same house some cats even pretend the dog are its baby! <3

That's wrong... very, very wrong. Dogs sleep several times for 24 hours, no solid sleep block like us. Now if your dog doesn't have anything to do during the night @ apartment or something, then it'll just be quiet and mind it's own food.

Cats are independent animals. Dogs are really needy. My cat does not QQ when there's no food for him. I just let him go outside and use his natural hunting skills. Catching birds is very easy for him.

I like playing with my cat since he takes it seriously when he's frustrated with me not being able to scratch me after I poke him a million times. LOL

Until I get real wounds on my hands because of my cat. He's too wild

I justr miss him so much. When I left home to work in another city, he died after 3 months. The poor guy must have missed me so much when I was away. Very sad
