Don't really need the best CPU unless you play massive online games...

you could atlease be more specific on your thread.

Im using amd athlon but intel is better in most of the cases, those ivy bridge i5s are really nice.

Id go with AMD if i were a hardcore overclocker though.

That is a ridiculous difference. It is literally comparing a dual core (virtual quad) to an 8 core.

Multiple cores are only good for massive multitaskers and multi threaded rendering and such. Most games are still optimized for 2 cores (mmos and such), max 4. For MMOs it is better to have fewer cores on higher frequency than lots of them on low. Yea I regret buying my i7 which has 4 cores (virtual 8) but runs on 1.6ghz. Whats the point of having a lot of cores when the game cant take advantage of them.

By the way if you want to compare specific models, use this site, it is really amazing for that

    What Smartik typed.

If its to play MMOs mostly, go for what he typed.

But if you are interested in running more modern games or other types of apps, then what you are looking for with many cores and such would work. I had to spend the money on a i7 high tier because besides gaming I do 3d rendering. Focus on the video cards if you only intent to play games and good RAM. NOT a lot of RAM, but with good frequency and bus speed data.

About the ram, it is the other way around, there is a site with benchmarks for different frequencies and latencies, but the fastest ram with lowest latency is only 2% better than slowest with highest latency. All that really matters is the capacity (GB) and brand name (in terms of lifetime, bad quality without stress testing give up in a year or 2). The frequency and latency dont matter much. I actually noticed a huge difference when I upgraded from 4gb to 8gb recently. For desktops I would say 8gb is fine, more helps but not needed. 4gb is just too little these days.

I checked resource monitor and the highest I have seen Aion using was around 2.2gb at any one time. You should definitely have a 64bit system to take advantage of more than 3gb ram. Even though Aion doesn't use it all for itself, the system is much smoother with it running (alt tabbing, having other things open with aion etc)

As for video card, Aion seems to be very heavily processor driven, with graphics card not having as much of an impact. It does matter for other games though.

Edit: the benchmarks are in this thread

6 gigs of ram, a dual core thats 32 nm technology or less, and a cheap video card and your pretty much set for aion.

    Ah ok.

I always view it from 3D and graphics Apps point of view, and there it does matter the frequency, latency, buss data speed and all the other small little things.

Intel all the way dude... AMD Cpu's heat up a lot and you need badass Water Cooling System to keep them cool off, as for Intel any water cooling system like the (H50 or H60) would do just fine i had a I7 960 couple of months ago with a H50 and i was running at 28 Celsius idle, Gaming was like 40 Celsius, The Lower Temp your Components receive the better Life Span. I recently upgraded MoBo and CPU, Got a Evga Z75 with I7 3770K Unlocked Edition overclocked to 4.2 Ghz idling at 30 Celsius, Gaming at 45 Celsius, Telling you i won't switch to AMD never again my first gaming rigs were AMD and they were pretty hot to the point i thought to my self i don't know how this shit doesn't burn cause it was constantly on 70C peaking 80C.

    Btw here you go,

    http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i5-3570K-vs-AMD-FX-8320-Black-Edition

    Intel Core i5-3570K, At 3.4Ghz

Amd Fx 8320 BE, At 3.5Ghz

As you can see the I5 beats down Amd Fx 8320.

I like the sites mentioned previously but i also used Notebookcheck when I was buying my machine. From what I remember, AMD tends to come in at a lower price point, and occasionally less heat production as well. However it really does depend on what TDP (thermodynamicpower?) it has. Higher numbers mean more heat. While 4 GB of RAM is probably alright (for a laptop) to run Aion, it probably would be better to get 6-8gb so you have some room for better games., Lastly, a good graphics card with 1-2gb dedicated ram and you'll be able to handle most games with 30-60 fps.

you don't need any of that crap for aion lol. also the athalons which are 2 generations back are better than the FXs (per core)

Well if u ask me Intel is much more reliable than AMD cpu.. AMD have good overclocking but so does Intel and the amount of processing it does is better(logistically). So yeah i like Intel better than AMD.

For Cafe pc's an intel i5 is more than enough for you!. AMD is not a bad choice too just be careful of which processor you get.

Graphics wise HD 7950 is ur bang for buck. or a gtx 660ti
