Failed to initialize the game

Already repaired the client ~3 times and it won't work for me.
Got the actual 3.5 NA Patch and installed the GamezAion launcher.
Any other ways to solve the Problem without downloading 20gb again?

 

Could you please tell me exactly how you installed/updated the game so I can eventually try and find the missing/wrong step you might have taken and try to help you out.

 

I played Gamez Aion a year ago, got an outdated game because of that.
Obviously I started the NCSoft launcher to update the game to the latest version.
After installing the GamezAion launcher and trying to launch the game, getting the error the first time.
No problem, as the FAQ got solve for that. After repairing the game, I reinstalled the GamezAion launcher and I am still getting the error.

Repeated that multiple times but without success..

 

Well I can think of a reason or two that might be causing it. Regardless of that, you most likely have to re-install.

If you like, you can follow my steps.

1) Download Aion
2) Install it
3)Run NCSoft launcher. Usually NCSoft launcher doesn't recognize the game as installed because it's not up to date. So once you've ran the launcher, Aion will most likely be under the Not Installed section. Right click on it and hit Properties. You'll see "Install Location" most probably being empty. Hit browse and point the aion.bin for the NCSoft launcher. The game should now be under Installed. (If the game was under Installed when you first ran the launcher, just double check the directory of the install path is correct and leave it)
4) Once you've done that, top left side of your launcher > File > Settings > Advanced > Region MUST BE set to North America
5) When done, click apply and close the window. Right click Aion again and hit Repair.
6) Download Gamez Aion launcher and install it inside Aion's folder


This should fix your game.

I changed the region to NA, but it changed itself to Europe, I have no idea why.

If you still have problems, you should also downgrade it to 3.7 because afaik, gamez is still 3.7 and retail just hit 3.9 other day.

 

Well, now I got the problem that the launcher only updates Aion to 3.5 instead of 3.7 or 3.9 ...

 

o.o Now thats new. Just let it update/repair for as long as it takes. It will update to the latest version.

Don't look at what version it says it repairs to. Just hit repair and let it do its thing. Once it's done, follow the rest of the steps.

 

Thats gameforge retail and they are just trying to look more modern than NA, their so called 3.9 update is like NA's 3.5 and 3.7, more or less. They are really behind xd

NA retail is 3.7 (actual version 3.5.0.12, they also try look more modern, their 3.7 update is actually parts they ripped out of korean 3.5 and added back later). The latest client is fully supported and will work.

Your problem since you played long ago is definitely items.pak related. You have the old modified items.pak, but it changed structure in 3.5 and causes crashes since then.

Go to your data\usa\items\ folder and delete everything there. Go to data\items\ and make sure there is nothing else except the 35mb or so original items.pak. If it works, then you can try my modified 3.7 items.pak

The issue is that a repair will not remove extra files, such as the outdated items.pak from back than, thats why you keep crashing

If you changed region settings to NA, you have to repair the game, otherwise it is still an EU client. That is why it says europe on it

 

I repaired it to NA like 5 times now

Try extract the upgrade file inside your aion folder. I would also wipe data\europe\items in case you had the old items.pak there in the past. Some people got the issue fixed with that, was an issue with some of the dll files in the bin32 folder

If that doesn't help, a clean install might be a good choice

"Should" and Aion don't always go well together xd Aion throws out more errors than any game I have ever seen. Many of the errors can have multiple different causes, it is chaotic.

 

I've installed the game the exact same way several times. What reason could there be for the Game not to run? Direct X? Sure, he can install that. Win8? You got the fix thingy. =P What else could cause a clean reinstall not to work?

 

Well his isnt a clean reinstall, it is an updated version from ages ago which had who knows how many overrides that repair will not touch and who knows how the update went. An unfinished update causes problems, so does a corrupt one etc. I would have to take a look at the client over teamviewer personally to see if I can find what is causing it xd. Sometimes they are things that clearly stand out which I wouldn't have guessed until seeing the client structure (like people having the ~PS folder which means the last update is not finished or corrupted, others had a new client inside an old client and wondered why it doesn't run etc)

 

Reinstalling it did it for me, was awake until 5 in the morning, but finally I can play GamezAion again x)
