My Aion wont Reinstall

Okay well this how it stated. I had my old laptop that just broke yesterday. On my brothers laptop that i am using now. He had Aion downloaded to the 2.5. GamezAion is at 3.7. So i went to update the NCsoft Luncher and it tried to download Panda Booster and it wouldn't download so i couldn't update the game to play. So i UNINSTALLED Aion and Luncher. I put my Aion original CD's from when Aion first came out and put it in to re-install but the Luncher wouldnt download and gave me error. So i cant even in-stall the game. What are your suggestions? Mine maybe someone could copy their aion folder and e-mail it to me. Or skype it and i put it in my program file.

 

Try downloading a random version of Aion off of a torrent site and attempt installing. If you manage to install Aion, you can always download NCSoft launcher after from gamezaion.com.

I don't see a reason why the game itself won't install. Will hit up Smarty with a message. He might have a better idea than mine. But in the mean time you can give it a shot if your internet is fast.

EDIT: If you can RUN the Launcher but it doesn't let you update because you can't DL Pando, do this:

Hit Properties on Aion and untick the "Use pando media for downloads/updates" then attempt downloading again.

Side note: I never use the update option btw. I always hit repair. Update is buggy. Atleast for me that is.

I unchecked the box. Its working and updating now thank you. So i can still play without the "Pando Meda Booster" Like on GamezArion ? and what patch should i stop the update..

 

Well few things

1. I would not even try updating anything pre-3.5, the launcher automatically determines it is too different and gets the whole game from scratch anyway, you would be wasting your time

2. Get a new installer for the ncsoft launcher from the ncsoft site (make sure you properly removed all your leftovers first). The old one might be too outdated, which prevents it from updating itself.

The launcher installer is only 6.2mb, if you can't get it from this link, somebody can upload it to mediafire or another upload site so you can get it there (or send it to you directly through skype etc)

3. Make sure user account control is turned off on the pc you are using, ncsoft always had issues with it so you reduce potential problems by just keeping it off, it is just an annoyance trying to protect people from their stupidity but causes more harm than good overall. To do that, do the following:
Go to control panels -> users/user accounts -> user account control (last option)
Vista - uncheck the box, accept, restart your PC
Win 7 - drag the slider all the way down, accept, restart your PC
Win 8 - Follow the steps here, comments mentioned the visual way no longer disables it, so editing the registry as stated in the guide may be required.
Alternatively, always right click the launcher and run it as administrator

4. Before starting to install aion, make sure you set the ncsoft launcher region settings to north america, otherwise you will get the "unavailable in your country" bs and have to repair the game later

5. If pando media booster causes problems, there are multiple ways to turn it off. The easiest one is right clicking aion in the not installed games list -> properties and unchecking the box. This will prevent pando from running (pando is basically a torrent) and allow you to download directly from the ncsoft servers. Another way is the following:

Close your NCSoft launcher completely (make sure its not running in the background)

1. Edit your NCSoft\Launcher\Config\Default\Games.xml in notepad
2. Press CTRL + H (Replace function)
3. Type <p2p>true</p2p> in the "Find what" field
4. Type <p2p>false</p2p> in the "Replace with" field
5. Click "Replace All"
6. Save

Alternatively extract this fix to your Aion, NCSoft or launcher folder and run it

Do keep in mind that aion does not really require an installation so theoretically you can copy paste the folder from a friend of yours onto your harddrive. Do note that you will still need to have the ncsoft launcher installed. If you do this and run the launcher, it won't find aion automatically, you will have to right click aion in the not installed games list -> properties -> browse and locate aion\bin32\aion.bin. This will attach the client to the launcher.

As always, if you get any errors etc, providing an exact error code or a screenshot will help a lot in solving it.

Read #5 in my post, pando is just a torrent that determines whether you download the game that way or directly from the ncsoft servers, it does not have any effect on the final client. You do not need to stop anywhere since gamez supports the latest NCsoft client

If you use windows 8 however, you will have to extract this fix inside your aion folder

Could you give me your skype and i could just send me your aion folder so i dont have to go through hours of different things? and ill download the launcher now and then just connect it to the aion folder.

 

The fastest way to get the client is using the ncsoft launcher since the speeds tend to be good and it supports download resuming. It would be insanity to try transfer a 22gb game over skype xd

edit: Yea with my upload speed it would take 12 days assuming neither of our connections interrupts xD crazy

 

Lmfao !! i though it would be easier. Do you know what patch i stop the client at. Because i know Aion and Gamezaion are at two different patches.

Him sending you his Aion won't work either. You have to install it. There are files that are not in the Aion folder but your game still requires them.

+ Making his Aion into an archive? = Several hours. Sending 30~GB over skype? Several DAYS. You're far better off just updating.

 

Yeah im doing what you said to turn off PMB and then update it. Its been doing good. I got the launcher off the Gamezaion.com website. I dont know where the files its going into lol. witch i think that might cause a problem later. But for now its updating. i just dont know what update to stop it at.

 

The launcher updates the game so everything goes to the folder where your Aion is installed, aside from the NCSoft launcher folder which is usually on C > Programs > NCSoft

 

You actually don't need to install it at all xd A purely copy pasted client from someone works as long as you attach it to the ncsoft launcher, it has all the files it needs. This is because aion does not create any registry entries beyond hardware detection that is done once regardless of what version your client is or when you installed it and even if you miss this entry entirely, it gets created on first run.

The only time there might be a problem is when the client comes from a different operating system. That could cause issues because of the modified items.pak compatibility or directx errors because of OS specific dll files in your bin32 folder. Other than that, it works fine.

You do not need to stop the update. NA retail is 3.5.0.12 (their so called 3.7) and gamez fully supports it. Gamez itself is somewhere between 3.5.0.6 and 3.5.0.12 implementing things here and there but there are no compatibility issues right now

Just make sure to disable automatic updating in the ncsoft launcher when you are done because retail will update to 4.0 in June and then you would have problems
