Alright, too many people having issues with the downgrade, more specifically, their client being far too small (13-14gb instead of our 26gb). I need someone to check this out for me. I don't have a fast net or free disk space to do this so basically here is what I need:

If you wanna save your current Aion folder, just rename it to anything (it will still work perfectly, just modify the filepath of your desktop shortcut if you want to use it that way). The new launcher only detects whatever is named "Aion" and anything else is seen as not installed, meaning it will get a clean copy from scratch the next time you run it. Download a clean copy of the retail 4.0 client and tell me the total size when it is done patching everything and capable of getting to 4.0 login screen. You can also try the downgrade from my guide afterwards, which would help a lot, but check the size before downgrading as well as after. I have to confirm if NCsoft changed the way they manage the client or those people just screwed up downgrading

It would mean a lot, thanks.

My retail Aion folder is 26.7 GB and plays 4.0 just fine (My GamezAion 3.7 folder is 21.9 GB). No space to add another install to try the downgrade tho.

Mine is 26gb too, the thing is mine was a 3.7 client updated to 4.0. I already noticed they trashed maps and moved them elsewhere, I am curious if they made some files obsolete so our clients are bigger than clean ones, if they screwed up downgrading or if NCsoft screwed up and they literally can't get a full sized 4.0 client like the one we have. I really need to test this xd

Ah, true. I did the same. I'll try removing it and DLing a fresh 4.0 from the launcher then. I'll post back when it's finished.

Thanks a lot xd Still find it hard to believe the real client would shrink this much. I mean even early ones like 2.0 were 16gb. Seems really unrealistic to me.

No it's not xd Delete the $Patch$ folder, delete .ncpatch and .repair files, all of this is setup garbage. The client will be under 30gb when this is gone. Besides, that doesn't sound like a clean install either.

26gb client, 20gb setup files xd Trashing the $Patch$ folder will do the trick. Anyways I guess it does mean that the downgraders have issues. Still not sure if it is them screwing up the downgrade or ncsoft not downloading the full thing. It does sound weird that they can run the game at half the size and that 1 guy said his client was 14gb before he even downgraded. Meh, ncsoft sucks

Well he did say it is 4.3 so it will be several gb larger than ours + several gb extra of setup files. People these days don't seem to care about 20-30gb of absolutely wasted space lol. There is no way I could afford doing that. I have a laptop with 500gb hdd and have to keep 3 aion clients at all times. 1 is retail 4.0, one is 3.7 original for gamez, the last is a hybrid that I toss files into from both to find my downgrade fixes.

Well at least right now I can tell that the issue with people not seeing bodies or armors wasn't my fault, kinda relieved. Still bothered that they don't have a full client and I have no idea why though.

actually that's my client's size lmao XD
It always skips my mind to tell the shop owner to remove the deep freeze for me to clean the folder up XD

I might be wrong because I haven´t even looked at it that close enough, but the folder structure also changed somehow? I am not sure, but the quick glance I gave it didn´t looked like the one I knew.

Anyway, until Gamez don´t go 4.x it ll be a pain in the ass for many. Good luck with the downgrade.

It did change, they added a systemconfig folder to the main ones, they added $Patch$ folder where updates are downloaded through a torrent instead of their old .ncpatch files, they moved maps out of the data folder to your textures folder etc. For a lot of new people (not sure if it was their fault or ncsofts) it didnt even make an aion folder, just dumped it in NCwest so the laucher was among the main folders. Moving the client out to a different place just made aion redownload the entire thing into NCwest again >.> I really hate the new launcher, you have no idea

Its very lacking in the config department.
Its a tendency lately, like developers think people is way too stupid to handle more buttons or options.

They actually accomplished the opposite xd In 4.0 the new "simplified" interfaces are confusing as hell. As for the launcher, it throws even more errors than the last one. The last one actually made sense and over time we found out how to fix each and every one of them. Here, it is quite different.

Anyways gonna go get my 6 hours of sleep and then work xd I'll talk to you guys again tomorrow.

Ok, after 2 hours of downloading/installing I ended up with a 25.6 GB Aion retail folder and that's after deleting the 26 GB Patch folder. Aion plays fine as well, so I'm sure 25.6 GB is the normal size to have after a fresh install.

My clean installed 4.0 client is 26.1gb. The NClauncher is lame and forced me to install the entire game again since I didn't put it into the Systems drive...
However I did manage to change the registry for the NClauncher after installing the game to detect it in another drive.

I just edited the NCLauncher.ini file with the new directory in the Program Files (x86)\NCWest\NCLauncher folder and it installed it there.
