mmmm I have to disagree on several levels.

First, not many people in internet are artist, if any. There are, but are rare.
What we are (we because I am one) is good illustrators. There is a difference, a substantial one indeed,

Second. What do you care about some unknown person posting crap that does not matter and is not relevant to your life in any way?

And third, the whole thing looks like the person is looking for approval or something, you don't need that.

People will be *******s to other people regardless of whether it's on the Internet or not. Sure, anonymity typically gives you a lot less consequences for your actions, but that doesn't make the person any more empathetic towards another person. Everyone knows the other person is a human, but that doesn't mean they will treat or consider that person as a human.

Why you may have some truth in what your saying you also have some flaws, for instance artist used in a general term can mean anything from a picture to a written text. Why you may ask? Well simple a text or speech or essay or paragraph w/e it may be specially in a negative sense paints an indirect picture to whom the speech or essay or paragraph may be directed to which is still considered art since it does paint a picture bad or good its still a picture/image.

Second you state a rhetorical question which one can only speculate that's how you feel or view (i'll stick to this thread only rather than generalizing it) about this post, which is, why should one individual care about what another individual may be saying/voicing, yet your being hypocritical in the sense that you took the time to write such a comment which just shows a hypocrisy b/w your argument/statement, wouldn't you agree?

And thrid I have no arguments there, i'll actually agree with you on that issue. People shouldn't seek approval for w/e they may be seeking approval for on the internet. The internet is composed of way too many people that have the right to voice their own opinion w/e the issue may be and most wont hold back. So seeking some form of approval or acceptance on the internet is not the way to go, you'll only end up regretting it.

As for the post itself, its nice that you do share it, but it all comes down to the individual himself/herself. Some will look at the post reflect and agree and ten seconds later do the complete opposite its unfortunately how we're all built, and someone can't say they aren't because we all judge each other.

    I doubt that would help.

I don't think there's any relation to how serious someone is and how much time they spend outside.

On the first part. The concept of art is related to a message, a communication of an idea that is related to a cultural or a social concept. What we have now is a overuse and popularization of what art is, everyone can grab photoshop and do something, go to deviant art: then if everyone is an artist, what is art? In the past the way of an artist was made by the constant work of a craft created around a personal view of the world, a perpective. This is a problem that has been created with the incorporation of digital media. People do forget what is to create, what it is really to be a craftsman.

Understand please that I am not denigrating the work that people do, for once its actual work and people do put their all on that. But lets be clear that it does not makes you an artist, there are terms for all forms of expression, all I am writing is that you use the right one. I can paint in aquarela, oil, acrilic, pencils, graphic pens. charcoal. I know how to do that in more than 25 different type of paper. I can use photoshop, aftereffects, illustrator, 3Dmax, Maya, dreamweaver, flash, yet I am not an artist, not by a long shot, I am an illustrator at best, an animator and a 3D model maker. Anything else is just wishful thinking.

On the second part, yes, indeed; its a totally subjective issue, you may agree or not, think I am an hypocrite and honestly is fine by me, its your right to think that way, but its my choice to not care. That is the point, you can choose to not care at all, yet people just cry and whine about what some random human wrote in the comments section. If a random unknown person that does not factor in your life, in anyway whatsoever, can interfere with what you think and what you do... then boy, you have issues to solve.

The internet is composed of proxies, I am not a Ddraig, and you are not a Played, we have real names we choose not use, share or whatever. Yet we use these avatars and names to reference something we would like to aspire, be, or admire. But is not us, that is the freedom the internet provides, more so to not care what some random person writes.

Of course the contradiction lies that you do not have to consider this little wall of text in any way based on what its written in it. But then again, I want to write it regardless, its your choice to read it.
